Amateur Players Tour of Florida – Southwest Tournament Recap
River Hall Country Club – June 7, 2026
It was another hot and humid late spring day in southwest Florida and we ventured out to River Hall Country Club in Alva. This is more of a bomber’s course, with the longer holes and more wide-open fairways. The course was in excellent condition right before they started their summer maintenance! Highlights of the day included:
- Division 1: On the front nine, Gage Basiletti jumped out to a 3-shot lead firing an impressive -2 (34) over newcomer, Adam Crisp, and 4 over Pierson Gill. Crisp would get it back to even on the day after a birdie but could not get any closer and Basiletti kept it rolling with an even par 36 on the back and a 4-shot victory.
- Division 2: In this Division, we had a small field, but everyone came to play! On the front nine, Rocky fired an even par 36 and jumped out to a 2-shot lead over Nick Westbrook, and 3 over Christian Hess. On the back, Westbrook would fire another +2 (38) on the back for a 4 over 76. Danny Magruder would come storming back with a +1 (37) on the back, but it was not enough to catch Westbrook who won by 2.
- Division 3: This was also a smaller field, and Rick Kaczmarczyk shot a +4 (40) to take a 1-shot lead over Mike Steele after nine holes. On the back, Kaczmarczyk would remain steady and fire another 40 on the back and 80 overall for a 2-shot victory over Steele.
- Division 4: Division 4 was a very tight one the whole way! Rich Camba jumped to the early lead with a strong +6 (42) on the front nine. Right on his heels 2-shots back were John Oursler, Dan Wojcik, and Andy Halek with Jay Shockey just 3 back. Oursler, Wojcik, and Shockey would all improve on their front nine scores while Camba would move the wrong direction. In the end, Camba prevailed by 1-shot over Oursler, Wojcik, and Shockey for the win.
- Division 5: In the final division, Quinton Allen carded a +7 (43) on the front to take a narrow 1-shot lead over Mike Bushee and 4 ahead of Greg Gastfield and Jackie Rush. On the back, Gastfield came to play firing an impressive +4 (40) and finished with an 88! However, Bushee would improve on his score on his front nine by one shot and fire an 87 for the win!
- Mid-Am Net: There were only 5 players this week, but they all brought their A-games on the front! Leading the way with -3 (33) were Rocky and Quinton Allen. Gage Basiletti was 1 back at 34, with Nick Westbrook just 2 back at 35! The back would prove to be the tougher challenge for everyone, but Basiletti would take a 1-shot victory over Westbrook as both would fire even par.
- Senior Net: We had a much bigger field for the Senior Net game with 16 participants! Rick Kaczmarczyk jumped out to the early lead with a -2 (34) on the front nine. Right behind him were Mike Bushee and Mike Steel with Dan Wojcik just one more back. On the back, Greg Gastfield would come storming back into contention with a -5 (31)! Bushee and Kaczmarczyk would both fire good back nines, and the three tied for first. Gastfield would win the scorecard playoff with his excellent back nine to take home the trophy.
A huge thank you goes out to Devlin Keenoy and the entire staff at River Hall Country Club for having the course in such excellent condition for our event!
Our next event is at Calusa Country Club in Lakewood Ranch, on Saturday, June 13. Remember, the more players we get, the bigger the payouts! Sign up now for your spot to play! Registration closes on June 9!
