Amateur Players Tour of Florida – Southwest Tournament Recap

Webbs Reserve Golf Club – August 2, 2026

The forecast was for rain most of the day, so all the players came prepared for that and some cooler temperatures!  Fortunately, everyone got off on their rounds with clouds in the sky, but nothing threatening!  When the sun came out, it got very hot, but there were enough clouds to keep it comfortable.  The rain held off until the last group had walked off 18 green and then poured for a while!  Highlights of the day included:

    • Division 1: Points leader, Gage Basiletti, was in the field and looking to add to his lead in the Player of the Year standings.  While there were only three players this week, Basiletti had his work cut out for him!  Pierson Gill, took the early lead, firing an even par 36 on the difficult front nine, with Adam Crisp and Basiletti just 1-shot back.  On the back nine, Gill was able to put up a +1 (37) for a +1 (73), but it was not enough to hold off Crisp who fired a -1 (35) and an even par 72 for his first win of the season!
    • Division 2: The top 2 points getters, Nick Westbrook, and Danny Magruder, both took the weekend off opening the door for others to win.   Rocky jumped out to the lead after the front nine with a +2 (38), but had Don Cabarle two-shots back, and Christian Hess 3 back.  Hess, playing at his home course, improved on the back carding a +2 (38) for a 79.  Rocky, however, would answer with a 38 of his own for a 76 and his first win in our chapter this season!
    • Division 3: Josh Acevedo, the POTY points leader in D3 was in the field this week and looking to extend his lead!  After the front nine, 8 of the 10 players in the division were within 2-strokes of the lead!  On the back, it became a two-horse race between Vic Moscevsky and Dylan Rich!   Both were cruising right along, and Rich took an untimely double-bogey on 17 to derail him just enough for Moscevsky to sneak in with the 1-shot victory his first of the 2026 season!
    • Division 4: This was an exciting one the whole way!  On the front, points leader, Clay Metzger, and Dan Wojcik both carded +5 (41) with Gregg Carr just 1 back at 42.  On the back nine Metzger and Wojcik were very steady with Wojcik getting a birdie on the tough par 3 12th hole!  However, on 17, Wojcik would find a bunker off the tee and would take a triple-bogey and they eventually tied.  We headed to the par 5 14th hole for the playoff where Wojcik’s drive would find the deep rough after Metzger had just hit a good one right down the middle.  They would trade shots and Wojcik chipped his par shot to 4 feet, while Metzger chipped his birdie attempt to 15 feet.  Metzger walked up and drained his putt for par and won the playoff and extended his POTY lead.
    • Division 5: This one had a lot of twists and turns throughout the day!    On the front nine, two-time winner, Jeromy Sigler, jumped out to a 2-stroke lead over Quinton Allen, and Rick Gill, with points leader, Greg Gastfield and Rusty Lingenfelter just 2 more back.  Sigler would falter a bit on the back carding a 50 while Allen managed a 48 and they were tied after 18 holes forcing a playoff.  The course was quite busy, so they headed to hole 10 for the playoff where they would both bogey the hole.  On the second playoff hole, Sigler would manage a bogey and Allen faltered with a double-bogey giving Sigler his third win of the 2026 season, and gain ground on Gastfield.
    • Mid-Am Net: On the front, points leader, Jeromy Sigler would jump out to a 3-stroke lead over Quinton Allen.  On the back nine, Allen gained a shot back on Sigler, but it was not enough as Sigler would hold on for his fourth victory of the season and increase his POTY lead!
    • Senior Net: With 17 players opting to play the senior net game, the competition was fierce!  On the front nine, Dan Wojcik and Rick Gill managed -2 (34) with Andy Halek and Rusty Lingenfelter just one back.  Halek and Lingenfelter would fire even par 36 on the back, but it was not enough to overtake Wojcik who would card a -1 (35) on the back and take his first win of the 2026 season!

A huge thank you goes out to Katelin Hammett and the entire staff at Webbs Reserve for having the course in excellent condition and helping us to navigate the multiple playoffs.

Our next event is at Aileron Golf Club in Lake Suzy, and it will be on Sunday, August 9.  Remember, the more players we get, the bigger the payouts!  Sign up now for your spotto play!  Registration closes on 8/4 at 11:59 pm!
