2026 APT Masters at Kickingbird (Elevated Tournament)

The largest field of the year signed up to play in an elevated tournament that offered double Rhino Roofing Player of the Year Points and double the prize fund. $4,200 was paid out for the elevated tournament that included our 5 divisions, mid-am net, senior net, 3-game contest, and closest to the Pin. The warm weather was perfect for the day, but it was the 20+ mph winds that made the day a challenge.

D1- Compton Captures Title with Clutch Closing Birdie

The seven-player field brought serious credentials to the tournament, collectively accounting for 30 victories on the APT Tour. Through nine holes, Conner Compton, Dominic Stevens, and Drake Vance were knotted at 2-over-par, with Taylor Gossett, Lance Gregory, and Scott Fees sitting one stroke behind at 3-over. Compton had established a one-shot advantage by the 14th hole at 3-over, with Gossett and Stevens in pursuit at 4-over. The leaderboard flipped on the par-5 15th when Gossett’s eagle moved him to the top. Stevens answered with a birdie to pull even with Compton, leaving all three players separated by just one stroke. After bogeys by Gossett and Stevens, on 17, it set up a tense finish, with Gossett and Compton tied for the lead heading to the 18th tee and Stevens one shot behind. On the final green, Gossett’s missed birdie attempt while Compton seized the moment, rolling in his birdie putt to secure a two-stroke victory.

D2- Casey continues recent hot streak with his 4th win of the season

Ten players teed off looking to keep pace with Jacob Casey, who entered the event having won three of his last five tournaments. After a double bogey on the demanding opening hole, Casey answered immediately—his drive on the short par-4 second hole finished inside five feet, and he converted the eagle putt to return to even par. Casey reinforced his status as the player to beat, posting a 1-over 36 for the front nine. Joseph Robinson kept within striking distance, birdieing the par-4 ninth to sit at 3 over. A birdie on the par-5 15th stretched Casey’s lead to four strokes over Robinson. But consecutive bogeys on 16 and 17 trimmed the margin to just two heading to the final hole. Casey bogeyed 18, while Robinson closed with a par—leaving Casey to hold on by a single stroke for the victory.

D3- Williams Overcomes Opening Triple Bogey to Claim Division 3 Victory with Round of 81

The largest field of the day- eighteen players- competed for double points and double prize money in Division 3. The day began dramatically for Jay Williams, who couldn’t locate his tee shot on the first hole and was forced to return to the tee box for a provisional. Despite opening with a triple bogey, Williams surged ahead with a front-nine 41 to lead the field.

Darrin Stewart, John Munno, David Eslinger, and Chris Arledge sat just one stroke behind at 42, but all four struggled on the back nine. DeVon Oku climbed into a second-place tie with a back-nine 40, posting an 83 for the round. Tour veteran Stan Wilson matched that score with the division’s best back nine—a 39—also finishing at 83.

Williams proved resilient in the challenging wind conditions, carding two birdies on the back nine to close with the division’s low round of 81.

D4- Niles Claims First Win of Season with Five-Shot Victory and Back-Nine 39

Seventeen players teed off with hopes of claiming the division title. Marvin Christie and Landon Niles shared the front-nine lead with matching 42s. Ron Wegrzyn sat one stroke back at 43, while Bryan Jennings and Wesley Acuff trailed by three and five strokes, respectively. Acuff mounted a comeback on the back nine, eagling the par-5 15th hole to pull into a third-place tie with Jennings. Both finished at 87. Wegrzyn remained steady throughout, matching his front-nine 43 on the back to secure second place with an 86. The day belonged to Niles. His second birdie of the round came on the 13th hole, sparking a division-best back-nine 39 that gave him an 81 and a five-shot victory. It marked Niles’ first win of the season and fourth on the APT Tour.

D5- Albro Weathers Tough Conditions for Third Win of Season with Two-Shot Victory

Eleven players battled intensifying winds that strengthened as the day progressed. Tour veteran Coby Albro set the pace on the front nine with a 44. Jerry Crabtree and Richie Pettifer were the closest challengers, three shots back at 47, while Jared Cogburn trailed by four at 48. Crabtree, Pettifer, and Cogburn couldn’t mount a charge on the back nine, but Max Flowers posted the division’s best inward nine—a 41—to finish second at 91. Albro played steady golf on the back to secure a two-shot victory with an 89.

The win marked Albro’s third of the season, adding to two other second-place finishes.

Mid-Am Net- Robinson’s victory adds to his division 2- 2nd place finish

7 players entered the new Mid-Am Net (for players 49 & under) contest. Joe Robinson’s net even par 70 beat out Taylor Gossett’s net 1 over 71 to win the trophy and prize fund.

Senior Net- William, from Van Buren, wins the Senior Net contest to go with his Division 3 victory

21 players entered the senior net (50 & over) contest. In a testament to APT’s handicap process, Jay Williams won with a net 1 under, 69. He beat out Bob Mulligan and Bill Chilson who both had even par 70’s.
