On-Course Contests Turn Craig Campbell’s Day into One to Remember
APT Portland teed off over the weekend at Eastmoreland Golf Course, one of Oregon’s most historic and celebrated public courses. Having played host to the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship twice, the track is no stranger to fierce competition, and this Elevated tournament certainly lived up to the expectations.
Ten players walked away with prize money through either their divisional results or on-course contests. While the money was spread across the field, no name popped up more than Craig Campbell, who took home a whopping $350 by the time it was all said and done.

Division Breakdown
Brahyam Merlin spent the day fighting off Paul Matis before a strong closing stretch turned into a three-stroke victory in Division 2. Merlin shot 39 to Matis’ 40 on the back nine on the way to a +12 84 for the day. It was his second win of the year, highlighted by a birdie on the #2 handicap par-5 13th hole.
Two players in Division 3 stood on the 18th tee tied at +14. In the end, it was Jason Woys who survived, carding a bogey to finish his round with an 85. Fade Bassett, the player Woys was tied with, made a double bogey after clawing his way back from a two-shot deficit at the turn. It was a breakthrough event for Woys, who captured his first-ever APT victory in his 10th career event.
Division 4 was the tightest battle of the day and required extra holes to be decided. Robert Kivisto was the beneficiary of a three-shot swing on the 18th hole when he made a par to finish +13 85. The result on 18 sent him to a playoff with Craig Campbell, where Kivisto capitalized on the momentum from the final hole to win the playoff and the division. It was his fourth divisional victory in six tournaments this season.
The lone runaway victory at Eastmoreland belonged to Brian Anderson in Division 5. He shot +26 98, defeating the next closest finisher by 17 shots. He made four pars on the day, including the #1 handicap par-4 7th hole. With the win, he slides into first place in the year-long standings in Division 5.
Two players earned a share of the Mid-Amateur Net Division title. Brahyam Merlin and Jason Stone each finished at +5 77, and both carded a net eagle on a par 5, with Merlin’s coming on the 13th and Stone’s on the 6th. Merlin had one other parbreaker, the 18th hole, which brought him level with Stone, who had made back-to-back net birdies on 13 and 14 to put himself in position down the stretch.
The lone round below par on the day belonged to Craig Campbell, who fired a -2 70 to win the Senior Net Division. He opened the day with a net eagle, adding five additional net birdies en route to a two-shot victory over Robert Kivisto. The win was Campbell’s first of the year.
