2026 POR Pumpkin Ridge Finals Elevated Results
John Vernon Leads the Way in Portland Season Finale
The 2026 season for APT Portland wrapped up with an elevated event at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, OR, and it certainly did not disappoint.
The top golfer among those who delivered performances to remember was John Vernon. He carded the low score in the entire field and earned himself a few skins to go along with the top prize in his division.
It was a battle to the end in most divisions, though the most dominant performance of the day came in Division 5, where Brian Anderson defeated the rest of his competitors by an average of more than one stroke per hole.

Division Breakdown
Things looked bleak after an opening double, followed by a bogey on two, but John Vernon locked in, ripping off two pars and a birdie to get back in contention and build a lead he never let go of. His +9 (80) round was enough to win the Division 2 title by three shots over Cory Dobak and Brahyam Merlin. Vernon also added a second birdie to his scorecard on the par-3 16th hole, finishing the five par-3s at -2, six better than any other competitor in the division.
Five straight pars to open the round was enough for Gene Franco to jump to the top of the leaderboard in Division 3 on his way to a one-stroke win over Fade Bassett and a two-stroke win over Prabhakar Lama. The trio finished at +16 (87), +17 (88), and +18 (89), respectively, and were neck and neck throughout the afternoon, but the early lead proved too much to overcome. It was Franco’s first win on the Portland Tour this year, but his second of the month with the Amateur Players Tour, having won with playing in Seattle chapter earlier this month.
It was a fight to the finish with Jesus Jared Soria narrowly edging out Robert Kivisto to walk away as the winner of Division 4. Soria finished one stroke ahead, shooting +15 (86), highlighted by a two-over stretch of seven holes on the front and another two-over stretch over five holes on the back. He made nine total pars, and the three-stroke lead he held at the turn was just enough to hold off Kivisto, who made a late charge. He now has six first-place finishes and divisional purse winnings nearing $500 in 2026.
There was Brian Anderson, and then there was everyone else in Division 5. He carded a +23 (94), good enough for a 21-stroke margin of victory over the second-place finisher. His play has been the story of the season, as he has now captured four straight Division 5 wins, dating back to July 11 at McNary Golf Club.
A three-under opening nine proved to be the difference-maker for Marcus Lowe, who won the Mid-Amateur Net Division by one stroke over John Vernon and Mauricio Sanchez. Lowe made two net birdies and a net eagle on the front, finishing the day at +1 (72). Vernon gave it all he had, making seven net birdies throughout the round, while Sanchez chipped in three of his own, but Lowe’s back-to-back pars on 17 and 18 kept the challengers just at bay.
The Senior Net Division was a four-golfer race, but Robert Kivisto came out on top, shooting net even (71) and finishing one stroke ahead of Brian Anderson, Craig Campbell, and Gene Franco. A pair of net eagles on the front and four net birdies on the back set the stage for his big round, overcoming a three-stroke deficit at the turn behind Gene Franco, whose five gross pars to start were also all net birdies.

It was a major payday for several golfers in the field, with eight players each raking in over $100, including one who eclipsed the $400 mark.

Best of the Day
- Robert Kivisto delivered two of the most memorable shots of the day, winning both Closest to the Pin prizes, including a shot to less than two feet that he cashed in for birdie on hole 3. The two prizes together earned him $100.
- Kivisto followed up his birdie on the 3rd hole with another on 4, both of which were good for eagles in the Senior Net Division.
- The back nine was the Craig Campbell show, making birdie on holes 12 and 17. He also started the day with a birdie on the first hole.
- Cory Dobak added three birdies of his own on holes 3, 10, and 13.
