Battle Creek Golf Club in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, played host to this past weekend’s Tulsa APT Golf event, presented by Hasty Bake Charcoal Grills. Sixty-one players teed it up and battled triple-digit July temperatures on one of the area’s most well-manicured golf courses. Hasty Bake Charcoal Grills fueled the competitors with a delicious barbecue lunch, while presenting partner BA Lawn & Garden sweetened the competition by once again adding bonus money to the prize pool.
Division 1
Two of Tulsa APT Golf’s hottest players, undefeated John Ryan Bonaobra (four victories) and undefeated Tyler Cloutier (two victories), appeared destined for a showdown atop Division 1. Instead, it was Oklahoma City Chapter standout Brandon Troutman who stole the spotlight, firing a sizzling 1-over-par 73 to capture the championship.
Bonaobra’s round got off to a rocky start with an uncharacteristic double bogey on the second hole, but he battled back to trail Troutman by just one stroke at the turn. Another double bogey on the 10th dropped him further behind before an immediate birdie brought him back into a tie. The pair traded punches over the next several holes before Troutman calmly closed with a par on the 18th while Bonaobra made bogey, securing a hard-fought one-shot victory.
The win marked a successful return to APT competition for Troutman following a lengthy layoff after getting married earlier this year. Cloutier played another steady round but couldn’t quite keep pace, finishing tied for third at 4-over 76 alongside rising young player Tate Dunlap.
Division 2
Another Oklahoma City Chapter player, Joseph Robinson, made the short trip to Battle Creek and left with both the trophy and first-place check after denying Joplin’s Tyrell Palmer his first Tulsa APT Golf victory.
Robinson and Palmer each posted even-par 36 on the front nine before Palmer caught fire with birdies on Nos. 10 and 12 to build a two-shot lead. That advantage disappeared quickly after a costly double bogey on the demanding par-5 13th. A bogey on the 17th handed Robinson the lead, and his closing par on 18 forced Palmer to make birdie to tie. Palmer’s attempt came up just short, leaving him with another runner-up finish.
The second-place finish was Palmer’s fourth of the season, further cementing his nickname as the “Tommy Fleetwood” of Tulsa APT Golf. Robinson claimed the title with a 2-over-par 74, while Anthony Westfield Jr., winner at Eagle Creek two weeks ago, completed the podium in third place.
Division 3
Randy Collier finally broke through for his first Tulsa APT Golf victory, posting a solid 81 to finish two shots ahead of David Snow and Jay Williams.
Williams appeared poised to add another trophy to his collection before a costly double bogey on the 15th allowed Collier to pull even. Collier responded by making par on two of his final three holes to secure the victory.
Williams’ runner-up finish significantly tightened the season-long Division 3 Player of the Year race. He now trails leader David Eslinger by just 17 points heading into the final local event of the season at Indian Springs Country Club in two weeks.
Division 4
Seventeen players battled it out in Division 4, but 18 holes weren’t enough to determine a winner.
Steady veteran Troy Smith and long-hitting Dewitt Jennings finished regulation tied at 11-over-par 83 before heading to a sudden-death playoff. Jennings appeared to have the tournament locked up after birdieing the 17th to take a two-shot lead with one hole remaining. However, an errant tee shot on the 18th led to a costly double bogey, opening the door for Smith, who calmly made par to force extra holes.
On the first playoff hole, Jennings made bogey while Smith once again carded a steady par to claim the Division 4 championship.
Division 5
Larry Griffith of Fort Smith, Arkansas, continued his impressive season by posting an 85 to earn a convincing four-shot victory over Jerry Crabtree. Steve Rehbock of Centerton, Arkansas, finished two shots behind Crabtree to claim third place with a 91.
Net Champions
Randy Collier captured Senior Net honors, while Joseph Robinson earned Mid-Am Net champion honors.

The Tulsa APT Golf Tour returns to action on Saturday, August 8, at Indian Springs Country Club’s River Course for the final local event of the 2026 season before players begin preparing for the Local Tour Championship at Shangri-La later this month.
