It’s the end of July, the heat is on!!! Not just the 105 temps in Wichita yesterday, but we have the GooD LiFE Golf Lab Player of the Year races that are tightening up as well! We had 45 players out for this great event, and it didn’t disappoint!!
First, want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to Tanner, Steven and the staff at Tallgrass Golf Club! Course was in great shape considering the heat this time of year. Greens rollin’ really smooth and the pace of play was great! If you haven’t played Tallgrass, you should go check them out!!
🏆 D1 was a tight match all the way to the end. Just 3 strokes separated 1st to 5th place!! KG Glasgow shot a 77 (+6) on the day to take the victory! Started 3 birdies and looked like it was going to be a smooth ride to this homecoming! BUT, a tough stretch on the remaining front 9, he went on to play some very steady golf and got the W! Kelly Sellers finished in 2nd going 2 over in the last 11 holes!! Tried to get back on top, just couldn’t quite catch KG.
🏆 D2 another tight division with 4 strokes separating #1 to #5! Newly promoted Conner Gillespie moved back a tee box and instead of going hybrids off the tee, relied on his 3W to keep it in play and on the short grass all day! Conner shooting an 80 (+9), held off Will Grimmett who played consistent golf throughout the day. 39 front/ 42 back. Congrats on the first D2 win Conner, keep up the great playing.
🏆 D3 Braydon Lund and D3 favorite in the Player of the Year race ran away with victory at this ELEVATED Event at Tallgrass. Shooting a 84 (+13) had this tournament in lockdown beating the next closest player, Tracy Hanback, by 3 strokes. Braydon, looks to continue his winning ways at the Willowbend Cup on 8/8!
🏆 D4 We had a PLAYOFF! Tyler Ball came in the group after Scott Miller and he needed a par to secure the victory! Unfortunately, finishing 18 with a bogey, the players took to #1 for the playoff both shooting 89 (+18) on the day. Scott Miller prevailed and ended up with the win on the solo playoff hole. Good rounds of golf for these two competitors.
🏆 D5 ALSO went to a PLAYOFF!! Steve Ellis from the Tulsa Chapter finished and looked like he would have a great chance for the victory. Erik Hopper who started off the day +2 through 4 holes, went into a little 3-hole slump that was snapped by a birdie on 7. As the day went longer, the heat picked up and a back 9 was tough. Erik held his composure and forced the playoff with a bogey on 18. Steve piped the driver down the left side and the rest was history. Mistake free golf and smart play by Steve in the playoff earned him the victory!
