San Diego Open Tournament Results

Division 1: After some late WDs, Alfonso Franco was unopposed in Division 1. No matter, as he collected a $100 Visa Gift Card and the trophy for posting a fine 77 from the Rancho Bernardo Inn Black tees. Alfonso figures to be a fixture on top of leaderboards next year as he was this year! 

Division 2: Going out in the first group as a twosome with Alfonso after the aforementioned WDs, Chris Hanson didn’t have his best stuff but still managed to post an 83. Not thinking it was good enough as Paul Luker (Memphis Champter) and Troy Shedeed were still ahead of him with holes to play. However, unlucky 7’s late cost both Paul and Troy, giving Chris his first victory of the year after four runner ups! He heads into the Tour finals right behind Troy in the standings, with Twon Fullman still in with a chance as well. 

Division 3: As noted in the Los Verdes recap, Hunter Thain had been playing some great golf but coming up just short before claiming the LA Public Links last out. This time around, he dominated the competition, posting the low round of the tournament with a 76 playing from the APT Gold tees! He came home in a tidy 36 to earn a $210 Visa Gift Card and the trophy! Scott Christensen posted another 2nd, maintaining their one-two position in the season standings heading into the Tour Finals. 

Division 4: Two players separated themselves from the pack in Division 4. Brandon Geier, a winner in his last event at Sierra Lakes and playing a few groups ahead of division leader Milton Gray, posted an excellent 83 playing from the APT Purple tees. Milton was at 10 over with three tough holes to play, and dug deep to collect two pars and a bogey to match Brandon in the clubhouse at 83! The two returned to the first tee for a playoff, where both found trouble off the tee- however Milton was able to extricate his ball to the front fringe whereas Brandon found the left rough. From there, Brandon could only manage a 6 and Milton took the title with a 5- good for a $210 Visa Gift Card and the trophy! He extends his lead over Steven Ayala in the season long standings heading into Monarch Beach, can he be caught? 

Division 5: Speaking of division leaders, Dennis McZeal may not be able to play the Tour Finals, but he has already wrapped up the season points race with his dominant play! The trend continued on Saturday as his 93 was good enough for a five shot win over Joshua Butler, who held his first tournament lead at the turn with an excellent 47! With his SIXTH victory of the season, Dennis earned a $175 Visa Gift Card and another beautiful trophy for his case!
