The weather has been very un-SoCal like this winter, including the latest stretch this past weekend. The rain held off on Sunday though and players enjoyed an excellent new venue for the APT, Sterling Hills GC in Camarillo.
Division 1: Adam Sides was looking to get some prep work in before this weekend’s APT Monterey Pacific Classic (where team California has over 20 players participating!) where he grew up playing. His game looks ready, posting a two over 73 good for a one shot victory over Daniel Marmorstein- who had the highlight of the day when he dunked his second on #5 for an eagle! Adam took home the Mamba Mentality #8 trophy and $160 Visa Gift Card for his win and has some momentum for this week! Adam also claimed the Senior Net side game for an additional $140.
Division 2: Much of the field in D2 struggled on the difficult outward 9, except Anthony Alamillo. Playing in his first APT event, he turned in 38, good for a 4 shot lead. There were no issues holding onto that lead through the back 9, as he finished with an 80 and a 6 shot win over Troy Shedeed and Hunter Thain. Anthony earned the trophy and a $270 Visa Gift Card for the win while Troy and Hunter earned $45 each for their T2’s.
Division 3: He was supposed to be a trip to Las Vegas, but weather conditions cancelling the trip meant Randall Araiza could jump in to compete on his home course. Scott Cessna pushed him all the way around the course, posting an excellent 83 a few groups in front of Randall. Araiza had a few shots to work with turning for home and used them all, tapping in for an 82 and a one shot victory! He won the trophy and a $200 Visa Gift Card.
Division 4: Ron Araiza nearly made it a family affair in Division 4, but Wayne Hall proved to be too much on the day. He posted a very solid 86 from the APT Gold tees. The two were tied on the 18th tee and Wayne’s par proved to be the two shot difference. Wayne took home a $160 Visa Gift Card along with the trophy for his win!
Division 5: Teddy Abat earned the trophy, a $50 tour credit, and valuable POY points for his victory unopposed in Division 5. His round was highlighted by solid pars on 3, 10 and 15!
