2023 Greystone Local Major Tournament Results

[read_time]

The Nashville Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour held its first one-day major of the season on Saturday at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson.  The sun was out, but winds from the incoming cold front produced 35-45 mph wind gusts through the round which proved to be quite the challenge.  116 golfers battled over 18 holes for double points and an enhanced prize pool totaling $6,340.

In Division 1, emerging as the champion was Tyler Sharpe from Greensburg, KY, who finished with a score of +1 after 18 holes. Sharpe displayed an exceptional performance, carding two birdies and 13 pars showing great skill throughout the tournament. He was awarded the top prize for his victory. In second place was Adam Cunningham from Cookeville, who finished with a score of +2 after a close-fought battle with Sharpe. Ryan Schumacher from Charlotte finished in third place with a score of +4, after making the turn at +4, posted even par on the inward 9 to secure 3rd place.

In Division 2, Lou Provost from Brentwood, and Jon Rowden from Dickson, battled it out for the top spot, both carding impressive scores of 78 to tie for first place. Provost captured victory on the 1st playoff hole. Tim Gillespie from Fairview finished in third place, just two shots back with a solid score of 80. In a tie for fourth place were Tom Foster from Murfreesboro, and Hank Wilson from Columbia, with scores of 82.

In Division 3, another playoff was needed to decide the winner. Matt Love from Greenbrier and Bryan Harwell from Lewisburg tied for first place with a score of +11 after completing 18 holes. Love outlasted Harwell on the 2nd playoff hole to take the trophy. Tim Ewing from Chapel Hill, who finished in third place with a score of +12, put up a good fight but was unable to catch up to the top two contenders.

In Division 4, John Cormier of Clarksville emerged as the winner, carding a round of 84 to finish at 12 over par. Cormier had a solid performance after starting his day with a triple bogey on the often treacherous downhill, par 4 first. In second place was Will Houston of Brentwood, who finished three strokes behind Cormier with a round of 87. Rounding out the top three was Jason Bucher of Paris, who carded a round of 89 to finish at 17 over par.

In Division 5, the trophy was taken by Chad Young of Nashville who put up an impressive performance finishing at +18. Young's win was made all the more impressive by the fact that he finished one stroke ahead of Basil Hall from Primm Springs. Hall ended up in second place with a score of +19. Rachel Guthrie of Brentwood finished at +21, which earned her the third spot on the podium. Madison Murphy of Charlotte was also among the top competitors, managing to score +24 to finish in fourth place.

In Senior Net, John Cormier from Clarksville capitalized on his win in Division 4 to also take the Senior Net title with a net even par 72. Bryan Harwell from Lewisburg places 2nd with a net +3 75 and Keith Woodall from Springfield and Matt Love from Greenbrier tie for 3rd place, both with net +4 76.

The Nashville Chapter thanks all of our competitors for their participation in our 3rd straight sellout of the season.
