Tournament Champions
The Nashville Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour made its first-ever visit to Manchester, TN and the Willowbrook Golf Club. 97 players travelled and beat the Bonaroo Music Festival traffic to compete for prizes and side game monies totaling over $5,100. The weather was the complete opposite of our last event as there was abundant sunshine and temperatures that ended up in the mid-90s. The early shotgun start to the helped the players to enjoy a bit of time in less heat. This tournament was also our 2nd event of the Patriot Cup Series were the Nashville Chapter player in each division that earns the most points at the end wins a $500 VISA gift card and a trophy.
In Division 1, Craig Young from Murfreesboro makes birdie on his final hole of the day, after 17 straight, boring pars (just kidding!) to shoot -1 71 and win by one stroke. 2nd place was claimed by Auburntown’s Cory Henley with his round of even par 72. Derek Joslin from Iuka, MS and the Memphis chapter takes the 3rd place position at +1 73.
In Division 2, Murfreesboro’s Chris Randolph posts two birdies en-route to a first place finish with his round of +2 74 to best new member from Gallatin, Todd Schrock and his round of +3 75. In 3rd place was Smyrna’s Greg Wyatt and his round +6 78. A host of players finished in a 4th place tie at +7: new member – Ben Worthen from Murfreesboro, Lee Busey from Clarksville and Tim Ewing from Chapel Hill.
In Division 3, Brentwood’s James Newkirk birdies his final hole of the round to capture the victory. Newkirk’s round of +5 77 bested two other players, who finished in a 2nd place tie: guest Chaz Garrison from Statonville and new member, Ashton Gill from Murfreesboro. In a tie for 4th place were Jeff Hudgins from Smyrna and Cory Moore from Nashville. Both finished their day at +8 80.
In Division 4, Kyle Sansom from White House prevailed by one stroke to secure victory. Sansom posts +12 84 to beat out 3 players, all who tied for 2nd place at +13 85: Wade Williams from Nolensville, Paul Harris from Evensville and the Tennessee East chapter, and Kaleb Wilson from Portland.
In Division 5, Tennessee East’s and Chattanooga resident, Peter Ko wins a one-hole playoff over new member, Raul Gallegos from Franklin. Both players finished tied at +20 92. Ko takes home the 1st place prize and trophy while Gallegos takes the 2nd place prize. Two players finished in a 3rd place tie at +22 94: Emmett Warner from Athens and the Tennessee East chapter and Grant DeLaTorre from Clarkrange.
The Open Net competition was won by Mike Templeton from Union Grove, AL and member of the Birmingham chapter. His net even par 72 was able to secure the win by 3 strokes.
Senior Net competition – James Newkirk was also able to capture the win with his net round of -3 69 to best Division 2’s champion, Chris Randolph by one stroke.
