The St. Louis chapter descended on the challenging Gateway National Golf Links on Monday with a sold out field of 120 players.  Players were greeted with perfect weather on a cool summer day with picturesque views of the St. Louis skyline.  Autohaus BMW was on-site to feature their all new BMW X3 SUV.  The versatile BMW X3 models deliver all-terrain performance, power, and efficiency in a rugged utility vehicle.  The Autohaus BMW St. Louis Local Player of the Year races are heating up, and scores were low as players battled for coveted points and their position in the Founders Cup Standings.

In Division 1, 18 holes would not be enough to decide a champion after last week’s winner Dylan Davidson and tour newcomer, but consistent top-finisher Michael Clark finished tied for with 1-over par rounds of 72.  Clark was seeking his first win in the open division heading into the playoff, which lasted for 5 holes.  The players exchanged pars on the first 4 playoff holes before Clark finally outlasted Davidson with a par on the difficult par 4 5thMichael Flynn, Ryan Eckelcamp and Chad Crawford finished in 3rd place with 2-over rounds of 73 in a division where the top 5 was separated by one stroke.  On the senior side, Michael Clark completed the double-dip, besting John Todd by 3 strokes.

In Division 2, Dave Adams was starting to feel the pressure coming down the stretch as a tight field was making moves to try and catch the leader.  Adams faced one of the toughest pin locations of the day, but capitalized with a clutch birdie on 17 to put his lead out or reach with a stellar 1-over par 72.  2nd place went to Todd Feuerhaken, Josh DeJarnette, and Shane Brosenne, who finished tied with rounds of 75.  5th place honors would go to Lance Davidson, Mark Lamoureux, and Daniel Black who finished with rounds of 76.  On the senior side, Todd Feuerhaken made it two in a row with a stellar round of 75 to earn a one-shot victory over Lance Davidson, Mark Lamoureux, and Forrest Olson who each finished with 76.

In Division 3, Simay Souvannarath took advantage of her recent hot-play, to shoot a 79 to earn a one-shot victory over Tony Clark. Mike Paubel continued his string of solid finishes, shooting an 81 to earn solo 3rd place honors.  Chuck Schranck finished in solo 4th with 82, while Anthony Zerillo, Cory Newman, Tony Quartuccio, Zach Runk and Dustin Hunter rounded out the money in a tie for 5th with rounds of 84.  On the senior side, Simay Souvannarath completed the double dip, defeating Tony Clark (80) and Chuck Schranck (82).

In Division 4, Mike Scalera showed a return to form, firing an 81 to earn a 5-shot victory over Dave Draucker, who finished in solo 2nd with an 86.  3rd place went to Toby Chrzanowski, who shot an 87 and is showing signs of life vaulting up the player of the year standings as of late.  Matt Hallrounded out the money with a round of 88 to finish in 4th position.  On the senior side, Mike Scalera completed the double dip with his stellar round to beat AJ Jangi  by 3 shots.  Dave Draucker came in 3rd place with a round of 86.

In Division 5, Clinton Malter had his best day on the APT firing an impressive 88 that secured a 4-shot victory over Autohaus BMW St. Louis Local Player of the Year Leader Josh Burnett.  Burnett continued his solid 2024 campaign, firing a 92 to finish in the runner-up position.  Jim Nichols finished in solo 3rd with a 93.  On the senior side, Jim Nichols earned his first victory with a 93, besting Bill McMahan by one stroke with a 94.

In the Open Net, Mark Lamoureux played solidly to shoot a 4-under 67 to earn a one shot victory over Jamold Little and Tucker Jensen who each shot 68.  4th place went to Michael Clark  and Chad Crawford with 69 and Mike Paubel  finished in 6th with 70. From here, the APT heads to The Falls Golf Club in O’Fallon, MO on Sunday, July 14th and WingHaven Country Club on Monday, July 15th.  Registration closes this weekend for both events.
