Tournament Champions
On Monday, the Tour traveled to the only Jack Nicklaus designed signature course in St. Louis – WingHaven Country Club. 144 players showed up to take on the test, where course conditions and weather were ideal for a mid-July day. Scores would be low as players continued to fight for Golf with Jay Delsing Series points and Autohaus BMW St. Louis Local Player of the Year points.
In Division 1, Ryan Eckelcamp played a solid round of golf, featuring 3 birdies en route to a 1-over par 73 and a 3-shot victory. Jason Hartrich and Chad Crawford finished in a tie for 2nd with rounds of 76, while Geff Dunn finished in solo 4th with 77. On the senior side, Geff Dunn earned the victory, edging John Todd by a single stroke.
In Division 2, Brandon Smiley kept up his good form shooting a 3-over par 75 that featured an eagle on the 11th hole en route to a 2-shot victory. Brad Garrett and Josh DeJarnette finished in a tie for 2nd place with rounds of 77. Mark Ralph, Scott Genz, David Ross, and Kent Van Cleve rounded out the top-4 with a round of 78. On the senior side, Brad Garrett earned a return to victory lane after firing a 77 to earn a one-shot victory over Mark Ralph and Kent Van Cleve.
In Division 3, Chuck Schranck returned to the winners circle, firing an impressive 5-over par 77 to best a crowded field. Justin Wilson earned runner-up honors with a steady 79, while Christian Benavides and Gerald Harsley finished in a tie for 3rd with 80. Vince Featherson rounded out the top-5 with an 81, with Paul Wilson finishing just behind him with 82 in solo 6th place. Rounding out the money was Jeff Morgan, Dauffus Jackson, and Tim Leonberger with rounds of 83. On the senior side, Chuck Schranck earned the double-dip win, besting Gerald Harsley by 3 strokes.
In Division 4, William Heritage followed up a solid finish on Sunday with a win on Monday, firing an 82 to earn a 3-shot victory over Rei Nakamura and Clay Metzger, who finished with rounds of 85. Dave Draucker and Scott Clavenna rounded out the top-5 with rounds of 86, while Jesse Baumann, Thomas Agnew and Les Mays each shot 87 to finish in a tie for 6th. On the senior side, Scott Clavenna and Dave Draucker needed extra holes to decide the champion, with Clavenna making a solid par on the difficult 1st hole at WingHaven Country Club to secure the victory.
In Division 5, Ryan Troll had a career-day, firing a 3-year best 83 to earn a 2-shot victory over Bill McMahan. McMahan finished in 2nd place with an 85, while Esther Flora continued her great play with a 91 to finish in 3rd place. Mark Smith rounded out the money with a 94 and a 4th place finish. On the senior side, Bill McMahan finished off the double-dip with a 6-shot victory over Esther Flora.
In the Net Game, Ryan Troll took advantage of a career-best, shooting a net 61 to earn a 5-shot victory over Chuck Schranck, who finished at 6-under 66. Scores were low for the 2nd straight day, with 16 of the 45 players breaking par. 3rd place went to Christian Benavides with a 5-under 67, while Steve Helmich finished in 4th with a 4-under par 68. Rounding out the money was Brad Garrett, David Ross, Blake Wellington, Dauffus Jackson and Peter Allen with rounds of 3-under par 69.
From here, the St. Louis chapter looks to head to the beautiful Dalhousie Golf Club on Monday, August 4th. It’s also stretch time for players vying to earn coveted spots on the Founders Cup Team, which the 4th playing will be on October 4th-5th, 2025 at Annbriar Golf Course. St. Louis won the first 2 Meetings (2021-Tunica National, 2023-Annbriar) before falling to Team Nashville last year at Greystone. The top-3 automatic qualifiers will be selected in each open division from the points standings after the event at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course with the captain’s pick in each division being announced the following week.
