The Premier Challenge at The Wilderness

The Premier Challenge at The Wilderness delivered another strong showing as the Houston APT players made their annual stop in Lake Jackson. Conditions held up for most of the day before the weather started to move in shortly after the tournament was completed. The field was ready to take on one of the tour’s favorite tracks.

    Division 1
Jarrod Brown stayed hot, turning at 1-under (35) and setting the early pace. Jason Hawthorne (+2, 38) and Jared Marusic (+3, 39) kept things tight, each carding a pair of birdies on the front. Marusic made a push with three birdies on the back, but Brown matched him stride for stride, answering with three of his own to close out a 1-under (71) and locked up the win.

    Division 2
Darien Duhon built a comfortable cushion early, posting a +4 (40) on the front to take a five-shot lead into the back nine. Scott Trebus made things interesting with a solid +3 (39) finish, but Duhon stayed steady down the stretch, closing at +10 (82) to secure a two-shot victory.

    Division 3
Troy White struck first with a birdie on No. 2 and made the turn at +3 (39), just ahead of Mark Gonzales at +4 (40). The two were deadlocked after 16 holes, but White delivered when it mattered most, finishing strong to claim the win at +8 (80). Gonzales followed in at +10 (82) for second.

    Division 4
Stephen Courtney came out firing with a +5 (41) on the front, taking a two-shot edge into the back nine. Allen Thompson and Michael Becker rallied to catch him, both finishing at +15 (87) to force a playoff. On the opening playoff hole, Thompson ran into trouble early and couldn’t reach the green in regulation, while Becker split the fairway and found the green in two, setting up a 20-footer. Becker kept his one stroke advantage and took the trophy back to Dallas.

    Division 5
Daniel Salinas set the tone early with a +10 (46), while James Alston, Muhammad Qadir, Samuel Sharp, and Jacob Szilagy stayed within striking distance at +12 (48). On the back nine, Panorama winner Rick Pritchard surged with a +5 (41), using a key birdie to secure back-to-back wins with a +18 (91).

    Senior Net
Charles Ackerman and Troy White finished tied atop the leaderboard at -2 (70), with Ackerman claiming the trophy via scorecard playoff. Mark Gonzales rounded out the top three at -1 (71).

Another strong showing across the board. Congratulations to all our winners.
Next stop: High Meadow Ranch. Field size has been bumped up to 50, so lock in your spot early.
