The Indianapolis Amateur Players Tour made its way to Kampen-Cosler Course at Purdue University, a venue known for championship-caliber golf and the unmistakable design influence of Pete Dye. The Kampen-Cosler Course, consistently ranked among the top collegiate courses in the country, features wide fairways framed by native grasses, deep bunkering, and large undulating greens that demand precision and creativity. Add in gusting winds of 25 to 35 mph, and the test quickly became one of patience, control, and resilience.

Division 1 delivered one of the most dramatic finishes of the season. Brett Taylor, Blake Claycomb, and Tanner Day battled shot-for-shot throughout the round, each posting an 81 in regulation under the brutal conditions. The trio headed to a playoff, where Taylor rose to the moment, making a clutch par on the first extra hole to secure his first victory of the season.

Division 2 showcased an impressive performance from Aaron Cummings, whose 79 proved just enough to edge out Josh Brooks at 80. Dan Punkay (82) and Denver Hass (84) also turned in strong rounds, navigating the difficult layout with consistency.

In Division 3, John Blackburn continued his dominant Player of the Year campaign with a steady 84 to claim the win. Ross Richardson followed with an 86, while Ben Heinking rounded out the top three at 87.

Division 4 saw Jason Walling add another victory to his resume, posting an 86 to hold off Patrick Norris (89) and Palmer Smalley (93). The Player of the Year race in this division is shaping up to be one of the most competitive storylines of the season.

Division 5 provided late-round drama, as Shannon Sageser, Ray Albensi, and Kyle Kammer stood tied heading into the final hole. Sageser delivered under pressure, rolling in a birdie to secure the win with a 96, just ahead of Albensi and Kammer, who both finished at 100.

In Mid-Am Net, Jason Walling capped off an outstanding day by completing the double dip, firing a two-under-par 70. Kyle Kammer (73) and Chris Dinges (74) finished second and third, respectively.

Senior Net saw John Blackburn collect his second trophy of the day with a 75, outlasting Shannon Sageser and Ray Albensi, who both carded 77s in a tightly contested finish.

From start to finish, the day proved to be a true test of skill and perseverance. Between the strategic demands of a Pete Dye layout and relentless winds, players were pushed to their limits—but still delivered impressive performances across all divisions.

The Indianapolis APT now turns its attention to its next stop at Pfau Course at Indiana University on May 16th, where another premier collegiate course awaits and the race for Player of the Year honors continues to heat up.
