Tournament Champions
The Birmingham chapter made its inaugural trip to Eagle’s Nest Golf Course at Lake Guntersville State Park on Saturday, May 30, and the first visit to the scenic north Alabama layout did not disappoint. After a week filled with rain and thunderstorms, players were welcomed by picture-perfect conditions for tournament golf. With blind shots, elevation changes, and an unfamiliar layout for much of the field, Eagle’s Nest provided a challenging but rewarding test across every division.
Division 1 saw reigning 2025 Birmingham Player of the Year Max Faure return to the winner’s circle with a strong 2-under par 70. Faure’s round was good enough to secure his first victory of the 2026 season and reminded the field why he remains one of the top competitors in the chapter.
In Division 2, Lucas McCullar continued his recent run of strong play. After narrowly missing out in a playoff at the previous event, McCullar bounced back with a victory at Eagle’s Nest after posting a solid 76. The win marks his second victory in the last three events and continues an impressive stretch for the Parrish native.
Division 3 belonged to Rusty Martin, who added another win to an already strong 2026 campaign. Martin’s round of 74 secured his third victory of the season and further strengthened his position near the top of the standings.
Division 4 saw Andrew Aderholt break through for the first victory of his APT career. Aderholt posted a strong round of 87 to earn the win and capture his first career trophy on the Amateur Players Tour.
Division 5 champion Matthew Lowery continued his consistent season with another impressive performance. Lowery’s round of 92 earned him his second victory of the year and added another strong finish to his growing résumé this season.
Rusty Martin wasn’t done after his Division 3 victory, as he also captured the Mid-Am Net title to complete the “double dip” on the day with two trophies.
In the Senior Net division, Jay Hayes earned his first hardware of the season by taking home the division title after another steady round at Eagle’s Nest.
One of the biggest moments of the day came on the sixth hole, where Brad Wahl recorded the first hole-in-one of his APT career. Even better, the ace came on the designated Bushnell $2,500 Hole, turning a memorable shot into a major payday and one of the highlights of the Birmingham season so far.
Thank you to everyone who competed at Eagle’s Nest Golf Course, and we look forward to seeing the Birmingham chapter back in action at Ol’ Colony Golf Complex on June 13.
