Amateur Players Tour of Florida – Southwest Tournament Recap

Heritage Landing Golf & Country Club – June 28, 2026

It was a bright sunny morning at Heritage Landing Golf & Country Club for our first elevated event of 2026!  We had 45 players Show up to challenge the course and each other!  Highlights of the day included:

    • Division 1: This one had half the field within 2 shots of each other after the front nine!    Adam Crisp lead the way with a -1 (34), followed by Deejay Jogesh, Gage Basiletti, and Chase Bertrand at even par 35, and Pierson Gill was one back of them!  On the back nine, Gill and Basiletti would both fire -1 (35) on the back, but it was not enough to keep pace with Jogesh who turned in a -2 (34) on the back for a round of 69.  Basiletti took second with a 70.
    • Division 2: Danny Magruder fired a -1 (34) on the front jumped out to a 4-shot lead over Christian Hess.  Hess would remain consistent on the back with a +3 (39) finishing with a 77!  Magruder fell off from his front nine, and gave back 3 strokes to Hess on the back but held on for the 1-shot victory over Hess with a 76!
    • Division 3: We had several good rounds in this group!  Charles Lynch (Kentucky) led the group on the front with a +2 (37), with Tommy DeMartini one back at 38.  3 other players, Brian Heinking (Chicago), Josh Acevedo, and Gregg Carr all started with 40 on the front and were right in the mix.  On the back, DeMartini and Acevedo fired 41s, finishing with 79 and 81, and Heinking fired another 40 for an 80.  However, Lynch shot a 40 of his own for a 77 and the win with DeMartini in second at 79.
    • Division 4: Rich Camba jumped out to the lead on the front with a 40, but he had Darrell Park (Central Illinois) 1 back at 41 and Dan Wojcik 2 back at 42.  The back nine proved to be much tougher for this group as Camba fell to a 49 and an 89 total.  Park would card a 46 on the back which was good enough to earn him the 2-shot victory.
    • Division 5: This turned out to be a two-horse race after the front nine!  Mike Bushee stayed hot with a +4 (39) on the front, with Mike Abbott back after a year long hiatus, and firing a +7 (42).  On the back, Abbott would fire a +4 (40) of his own making up 2 shots on Bushee!    Bushee prevailed with a 1-shot win over Abbott who finished alone in second!
    • Mid-Am Net: This group started out strong on the front nine with a -1 (34) by Josh Acevedo, followed by Gage Basiletti and Ben Heinking at even par 35. On the back, Heinking would finish at even par on the back and for the day.  Basiletti would fire a -1 (35) on the back finishing at -1 (70).  However, Josh Acevedo would also card a -1 (35) on the back to finish at -2 and the win!
    • Senior Net: We had some really good scores in this group!  Mike Bushee, started with a -4 31 on the front, followed closely by Mike Abbott, and Danny Magruder at -3 (32), Jackie Rush at -2 (33) and Tommy DeMartini and Gregg Carr at -1 (34).  DeMartini would card a +1 (37) on the back for an even par 71 and third place.  Bushee would follow his strong front with a -2 (34) on the back for a -5 (66) total and second place.  The big winner was Mike Abbott who was on fire on the back carding a -6 (30) for a -9 (62) total and the win!

A huge thank you goes out to Kyle Zeitz and the entire staff at Heritage Landing Golf & Country Club for having the course in such excellent condition!

Our next event is at Waterlefe Golf & River Club in Bradenton, and it will be on Saturday, July 11.  Remember, the more players we get, the bigger the payouts!  Sign up now for your spot to play!  Registration closes on July 7!
