I want to thank BJ Howard who is always a great partner in putting on our tournaments. Mr. Howard made a move from Earlywine to Trosper and allowed us the opportunity to play one of the best kept Oklahoma City public courses. He is making great changes by improving the service level at the course and the friendliness of the staff. I look forward to partnering with him to put on future tournaments at the course. With 58 players showing up to play, it is a favorite one of the favorites.

The final tournament of the year leading into the Chapter Finals at the renovated Winstar Resort Redbud course. Rhino Roofing Player of the Year races were front and center with the points leaders paired together. The Amateur Players Tour offers an opportunity for every player of every skill level. Gross stroke play in 5 different divisions ranging from divisions for 3.4 and under handicap to division 5 where 18.5 and over handicaps compete against each other.

The Trosper Golf Club Classic showcased a competitive field made up of 58 talented amateur golfers on its player friendly yet challenging layout in Edmond, Oklahoma. Strategically lined with trees, wide landing areas, and a winding creek, the course rewarded those who combined accuracy and good course management. The tournament was contested on a par-70 layout, presenting a mix of par-3s, par-4s, and par-5s that tested every aspect of a golfer’s game.

    Division 1

Conner Compton came into the tournament as one of the favorites based on his record in the 2026 season as a winner in 3 of the 5 tournaments he has played in, however, he was 1 of 8 talented division 1 players competing. Compton opened up with birdies at the 1st and 2nd holes that was matched by Ryan Martin. Compton followed up with a birdie on hole 6 to take a 2 shot lead over Martin. The pair of golfers were the only 2 under par after 9 carding 32 for Compton and 33 for Martin. Danny Witmer and Robert Irion were the next closest competitors with 38 and 39 respectively. Compton made it hard to make any ground with his only bogey on the day coming at the long par 3 17th hole. After a bogey- bogey start on hole 10 & 11 to start the back nine, Martin was facing a 3 stroke deficit. A late birdie on the 16th hole and the bogey on #17 by Compton gave Martin an outside chance. The tournament came down to the challenging par 5 18th hole. Compton was able to come up with a big par to capture his 4 win on the season. After disappointing first nine holes, Darren Jones and Danny Witmer finished with the best back nine scores coming in with matching even par 35’s. Darren birdied the 16 & 17 holes while Witmer birdied the par 5 12th hole.

    Division 2

10 players competed in this division, with the top 2 points leaders for the Rhino Roofing Player of the Year in the tournament. Kirk Russell and Joe Robinson came into the tournament separate by less than 50 points, so the pairing had the spotlight. Stephen Pilant wanted to be play a part in the day. Pilant had 3 birdies and 3 bogies on the front nine to make the turn with the lead with an even par 35. Russell didn’t have his best stuff on the front nine and struggle to an opening 43. Robinson managed 2 birdies on the front side, making the turn in 3 place at 2 over 37. John Behrend was 2 under thru 7 before he bogey- double bogey to finish with a 1 over 36. 1 shot back with matching 38’s on the front side was Kirk Washburn and Conner Hoelting. Russell battle back with a 2 over the damage on the front was too much to over take the leaders, although he was battling for as many points as he could manage. After going 3 over to start the back nine, Washburn made 2 late birdies to finish in 3rd place on the day. Robinson and Pilant continued to play great golf on the back with Robinson finishing with even par 35 to Pilant’s 2 over 37 leaving the pair tied after 18 holes. Behrend and Tyler Kemp finished with a 78 & 79 respectively.

A sudden death playoff started on the difficult par 5 18th hole. After their drives both players decided to lay up before the creek by the green. Their approach shots left Robinson outside of Pilant, but he buried his putt for birdie leaving Pilant a chance to force a 2nd hole. Pilant’s putt was left with a tap in for a par 5, giving Robinson the tournament title and more importantly valuable Rhino Roofing POY points. With the victory Robinson opened up a 229 point lead in the player race over Russell.

    Division 3

The field for this division was filled 14 players including the Rhino Roofing POY points leader, past winners, new comers and tour veterans. Darrin Stewart, points leader, had 1 birdie on the front nine finishing with a 2 over par 37. Mike Crabtree and Lewis Eades were 2 back with matching 39’s while 3 others were 3 back. Eades played some good golf on the back nine, but he wasn’t able to avoid a couple of bad holes leaving him with a 44, 83 on the day. Crabtree finished the back nine with a 41 to finish with an 80 to finish tied for 4th place. Roger Bonaobra, Chance O’Connor, and Ethan Torrance finished with the best back nine scores coming home in 4 over 39. Bonaobra and O’Connor shared 2nd place each finishing the day with 9 over par 79. Stewart kept his lead of 3 throughout the back nine coming to the 18th hole over O’Connor and Bonaobra who was playing in the group ahead of Stewart. In a division where a triple bogey max is in play. Stewart just had to avoid a big number and hope one of the other players didn’t birdie the hole. O’Connor playing with Stewart bogeyed the hole and Bonaobra parred while Stewart triple bogeyed the hole to win by 1. Stewart’s victory  was his 2nd win in a row and 3rd of the season. Stewart will repeat as Player of the Year and will be welcomed to Division 2 for next season.

    Division 4

The division had largest field of the tournament with 16 players. The front nine was a tightly contested competition where 9 players were separated by 3 shots. Connor Boyd held the lead on the outward nine and looked to make the turn with a 3 shot cushion, however a double bogey on the par 3, 9th hole meant he made the turn in 3 over with a 1 shot lead. Tulsa member, Roger Dollins, DFW member, Mark Helms, and OKC member Bryan Jennings made the turn with a 4 over 39, 1 back of Boyd for the lead. Mike Adcock and Columbus member, Van Rome were 2 back while Jeremy Jones and Trevor Peck were 3 back of Boyd. Winner at Shawnee Country Club last weekend, Justin Gates, got off to a bad front nine but he turned in the best back 9 score tournament with an even par 36 to finish with an 81. After the turn, Boyd wasn’t able to keep up his stellar play on the front and fell back with a 45 to finish with an 83 on the day. A tightly contested front nine turned into a tightly contested finish with 4 players finishing in a tie for 2nd with 81’s. Adcock 40- 41, Dollins 39- 42, Trevor Peck 41- 40, and Gates. Jennings was powered by an eagle on the par 5, 12th hole to finish the tournament with a 2 year best score of 76. Jennings has seen his game continue to improve in tournament play for his 2nd win of the season.

    Division 5

Another DFW member, Jonathan Sample, had 2 birdies on his way out in 5 over 40. Sample had a 1 shot lead over Neil McGary and Richie Pettifer who each shot a 41 on the front nine. Sample struggled on the back, but was still able to finish 3rd with a score of 88. The difficult par 4, 13th hole caught McGary in his pursuit leading to a back nine 48 to finish with an 89 on the day. A rough start to the back nine, Pettifer finished the last 5 holes, 3 over, to keep him in the mix for the title with a finishing with a 44 and 85 on the day. After a 43 on the opening nine, Jared Cogburn had 5 pars on the closing nine to finish with a field best 42 and matching Pettifer for an 85. Cogburn who had 4 wins on the season coming into the Trosper Golf Club Classic was headed to a playoff with Pettifer who was searching for his 3 tournament win in a row. The duo played the par 5, 1st hole in a sudden death playoff. Cogburn was in good position after his drive giving him an advantage as Pettifer didn’t hit a good tee shot. Pettifer made a good effort to get back in the hole and was able to bogey the hole, but Cogburn got onto the green to have a 2 putt par for the 5th win of the season. Both players have had tremendous seasons improving their play the entire season.

    Senior Net

The division 4 winner, Bryan Jennings, powered by his best score in 2 years took the Senior Net Contest with an 8 under 62. Mark Helms and Mike Adcock finished in the money and a 2nd place tie, finishing at 3 under.

    Mid-Am Net

Stephen Pilant took home the Net contest for players under 50 years old. His 2nd place finish in division 2, helped him finish with a 6 under 64.

    Closest to the Pin

Jonathan Sample and David Stinnet won the closest to the pin contest from holes 2 and 9 respectively. Thanks to our sponsors T & T Realty Group and Patriot Bail Bonds, the winners took home $140.

    3 Game Contest

D1/ D2 had a 3 way tie with 1 over 19, on the 6 par 3s. Ryan Martin, Kirk Russell, and Stephen Pilant all had 2 bogeys and 1 birdie to come to the total.

D3 Chance O’Connor, Ethan Torrance, and Lewis Eades all finished in a 3 way tie with 2 over 20s.

D4/ D5 If would not be complete without another 3 way tie for this contest. Mark Helms, Bryan Jennings, and Rodney Woodward finished with 19 strokes and 1 over par.
