Pevely Farms Golf Tournament Results

[read_time]

Sunday saw the Amateur Players Tour St. Louis chapter make its way to Pevely Farms Golf Course in Eureka Missouri. An Arthur Hills design built in the hills of a former dairy show farm, drastic elevation changes, undulating greens, and great views make this course one not to miss. Unfortunately the weather missed the memo for a second straight event, but thanks to everyone on the staff at Pevely Farms we were able to get everyone off the course safely, and get enough play finished to have a completed tournament. Thank you to everyone who attended for being understanding and making the best of a less than ideal situation. We never want to have to shorten an event, but when a course becomes unplayable sometimes the hard decision to make is the best one.

Without knowing that the rain was coming, Noel Fehr and Kevin Erxleben decided that 18 holes wasn’t enough for the day. With both players finishing the day at 2 over par 74. Fehr went on to win on the second playoff hole. Nate McCutcheon finished 3rd, one shot back of the pair at the top followed by Kyle Mcguire.

Most of Division 2 managed to make it off the course just before the rain began, with one player on the course when play was halted. Thankfully the 18th hole was playable enough for him to finish his round and get everyone through the event. Greg Shepherd broke through for his first win of the 2021 Season with a solid round of 4 over par 76. Dale Morrison of the Iowa Tri State Chapter finished one shot back shooting 77 on the day. Behind them was a log jam with 5 players tied for 3rd at 6 over par 78.

Division 3 saw their event shortened to 9 holes with several holes on the back nine being made unplayable after the downpours. Thankfully everyone from Division 3 had already made the turn, so no players had to go back out after the delay. With the shortened event Adam Povis got his first victory on the APT finishing the front 9 strong at 2 over par 38. Tim Leonberger finished one shot back with a 3 over par 39. Brian Dobrynski, Ron Polillo, and Tim Fox all tied for 3rd at 4 over on the front side.

Division 4 is where the players and staff had to work some magic to get everyone through the front 9. With a couple groups left to make the turn when play was suspended, thankfully the remaining holes were at least playable when the rain subsided. Thank you very much to our players who were able and willing to wait out the rain and go back out to finish the front 9. Normally an on course playoff is used to determine a winner with a tie for first place, but given the situation on Sunday, Tim Malyszko and Danny Graves were named co-champions. 7 over par 43 was enough to get both of them into the winners circle. Bryce Vandas finished the front side 1 shot behind with a 44, followed by Rick Johnson, Dave Parker, Kenny Jackson, and Mike Scalera tied for 4th at 9 over par 45.

Division 5 had all made their way most of the way through the back nine, with their event being shortened to 15 holes. There were several groups that had holes to play that would not have been playable, not to mention flooded cart paths that would have made for rerouting some long trips between holes. Jake Stroker finished solid before the rain came to win with a 10 over par 70 through 15 holes. Tied for 2nd behind Stroker was Linda Bozada, Mike Pitroff, and Douglas Sinn.

Thank you again to all of our players that got a little bit wet and were still willing to finish their rounds. And thank you to everyone for understanding the need to shorten the event. With the end of the schedule rapidly approaching and stacked to the top with great courses we simply don’t have enough days on the calendar to reschedule. Next up is a trip to Silvis Illinois to TPC Deere Run two weeks after the PGA Tours John Deere Classic. This should be a great event with 10 chapters from across the country represented. Following the Tri-State Shootout is another event at the fantastic St. Clair Country Club.
