Eastern Icebreaker @ Sequoyah National Recap
The challenge of this course was on full display as the competitors from 17 local chapters from around the country played in the inaugural event at Sequoyah National in western North Carolina. On behalf of all the Chapter Owners involved with the event, I would like to express our gratitude to you, the players, for coming to this event and making it special. As we drove around the course, we could see the challenges that you faced. Some faired well, some, not so well and that was to be expected over the challenges that this course provided.
In all, 98 competitors teed it up due to a couple of last-minute cancellations. Even with those cancellations we were happy to provide a full payout of $6000 in our normal Divisional contest and another $750 in our Senior Net Game contest.
Division 1
Kyle Moffett (Carolina Triad), Matt Epperson (Kentucky) and Greg Moore were all tied at Even Par starting day 2. Greg got off to a slow start and it seemed as if we were heading for a sudden death playoff scenario as Kyle and Matt were both at +2 with two holes to play. However, a couple of mistakes by Kyle and a closing birdie by Matt resulted in a 5-stroke victory in the end. Matt (72-73-145) receives a $480 APT Visa Gift Card for the win along with the Trophy. Greg Moore (72-78-150) wins the scorecard playoff with the better back nine total and collected the second-place APT gift card valued at $270. Kyle (72-78-150) for his efforts collected the $150 APT Visa Gift Card.

Danny Stein (Charlotte) (94-84-178) who had a good night at the tables at Harrah’s Cherokee on Saturday night said he did not care how he shot on Sunday as he was already ahead.
