On Sunday, the Tri-Cities/Southwest Virginia chapter had our fifth tour stop at Tazewell Country Club in Poundingmill, VA. A buzz was in the air as players anxiously awaited getting the fifth tournament underway, earning valuable points towards qualifying for the inaugural North American Championship at Pinehurst Resorts in October. A competitive field faced sunny conditions, but a golf course that was in excellent shape.
In Division 1, Peyton Wilson battled his way to a +4 over 75 on his way to victory.
In Division 2, Anthony Stout took home the victory with a +5 over 76. Todd Holmes finished eight shots back with a +13 over 84. Jason Greenwell finished third fifteen shots back at +21 over 92.
In Division 3, Brad Carr bested the field with a nice +24 over 95.
In Division 4, Samuel Miller shot a solid +24 over 95 to take home the victory. Josh Holmes finished two shots back with a nice +26 over 97. Rhea Preston finished third nine shots back with a strong +33 over 104.
In Division 5, Chuck Poe started his victory campaign by winning shooting a solid +27 over 98. Brandon Cook from the West Virginia chapter finished the day in sunny conditions with a +36 over 106. Finishing third was David Cook from the West Virginia chapter with a +46 over 117.
From here, the APT moves to Woodlake Golf Club on Saturday, June 5th. We look forward to seeing everyone for another exciting APT tournament and another chance to earn valuable points in our local Player of the Year race.
