On Sunday, the Amateur Players Tour travelled south to Farmington, MO to Crown Pointe Golf Club.  Crown Pointe has been hosting some big events as of late, being a regular on the USGA Qualifying circuit as well as hosting the Missouri High School State Championships.  This Sunday’s event was a day after Crown Pointe’s member guest, so the rough was thick and the greens were fast.  91 players experienced a perfect day for golf, with temperatures in the low 80’s with light winds and perfect scoring conditions.

In Division 1, Chad Menke earned his first APT win with a solid 6-over par 78 that featured a front 9 even par that put his lead just out of reach.  Chad Crawford finished runner-up with a 79, while Josh Willett finished in solo 3rd with an 81.  On the senior side, Dan Busk took home the victory with an 85.

In Division 2, Aaron Gutjahr came into the 18th hole, needing a birdie to earn his first victory on the Amateur Players Tour and that’s exactly what he got, knocking his second shot to tap-in range to earn his first win with an impressive 74.  Hendra Wijaya made the trip from Las Vegas and fell just one-shot short with a 75 to take home the runner-up honors.  Todd Feuerhaken, Josh DeJarnette, and Zach Bryaneach finished in a tie for 3rd with rounds of 78.  On the senior side, Hendra Wijaya earned the win with his 75, with Todd Feuerhaken earning runner-up honors with 78.  Michael Konuch finished in 3rd with 80.

In Division 3, Bill Wunderlich earned the victory after shooting an impressive 77 to earn a one-shot victory over Mike Burch who finished runner up with a 78.  Wunderlich’s round moved his handicap to an 8.1, triggering a promotion to Division 2.  Congratulations Bill on your outstanding play!  3rd place went to Chris Turner after firing an 80, while Dan Moore (Tulsa), Gerald Harsley, and Mike Paubel tied for 4th with rounds of 82. On the senior side, Bill Wunderlich completed the double-dip victory with is 77, while Chris Turner took runner-up honors with his round of 80.  Dana Moore and Gerald Harsley finished in a tie for 3rd with 82.

In Division 4, 18 holes would not be enough to decide a champion as David King and Tony Proffitt each shot impressive rounds of 84.  The rough proved to be difficult as both players struggled on the first playoff hole, the par-5 1st with Proffitt emerging victorious.  3rd place went to Zhi Zhong and Jerry Anderson, who finished one shot off the pace with rounds of 85, while Stevie Frank and Justin Levine finished in a tie for 5th with rounds of 86.  On the senior side, Tony Proffitt earned the playoff victory over David King with Jerry Anderson coming in 3rd place just one shot back.

In Division 5, Colin Dooley had himself a day, firing an impressive 14-over par 86 to earn a one-shot victory over Tim Nuoffer, who turned in his best career APT round at 87.  Nashville’s Joe Smolira carded an 88 to finish in 3rd just two shots back of the leaders, while David Alexander shot an 18-over 90 to finish in 4th.  On the senior side, Tim Nuoffer holed out from 100 yards on the 18th hole for eagle to secure his first victory on the APT with his personal best round – an 86 to finish a shot ahead of Joe Smolira, who finished one shot back with an 87.

In the Net contest, 25 players teed it up, with Bill Wunderlich earning the title with a net 3-under par 69.  Finishing runner up was Mike Burch and David King with rounds of 2-under par 70.  Rounding out the top-5 was Mike Paubel and Gerald Harsley with even-par rounds of 72.
