Homecoming Returns to Annbriar for One of APT’s Biggest Weekends of the Year

The Amateur Players Tour returned to Annbriar Golf Club on June 13-14 for the 2026 Homecoming Major, the largest major championship on the schedule outside of the North American Championship.

Following Friday’s Folds of Honor event, players from across the country remained in the St. Louis area for a weekend that continues to hold special significance within the Amateur Players Tour. This year’s tee gift featured the phrase, “Where It All Began,” a fitting reminder of Homecoming’s place in APT history and the event’s connection to the roots of the Tour.

With major championship trophies, significant Player of the Year points, and more than $10,000 in payouts across gross and net divisions on the line, the field arrived at Annbriar prepared for a demanding 36-hole test.

Weather played a role throughout the weekend. Saturday’s opening round brought periods of light rain, shifting winds, and enough moisture to keep players reaching for rain gear throughout the morning. While conditions never became unplayable, the intermittent weather created challenges with club selection, distance control, and maintaining momentum during the round. By the afternoon, conditions improved and scoring opportunities became more available.

Sunday offered a different test. Players started the day with cooler temperatures before conditions gradually improved throughout the morning and into the afternoon. With better weather and a major championship on the line, final-round positioning became the focus as players worked to close out divisions and make late moves up the leaderboard.

    Division 1

Ryan Eckelkamp (Washington, MO) entered the final round with a three-shot advantage after opening with a 3-under 69 on Saturday. While conditions proved more difficult on Sunday, Eckelkamp stayed in control of the championship, adding a 1-over 73 to finish at 2-under par and secure the Homecoming title.

Barney Sutley (Frankfort, KY) posted the low round of the day among the leaders with an even-par 72 to finish second at 1-over, three shots behind Eckelkamp. Edward McDugle (Memphis, TN) finished third at 7-over following rounds of 75-76.

Dylan Davidson (O’Fallon, IL) opened with a 69 on Saturday and sat near the top of the leaderboard entering the final round before finishing fourth at 9-over. KG Glasgow (Prairie Village, KS) rounded out the top five at 11-over.

Eckelkamp’s victory earned him the Homecoming title, valuable Player of the Year points, and the Division 1 first-place payout of over $500.

    Division 2

Division 2 featured one of the closest finishes of the weekend.

Todd Feuerhaken (Cottleville, MO) held the overnight lead after opening with an even-par 72 and managed the changing conditions well enough on Sunday to finish at 10-over and claim the title by a single shot.

Michael Lingenfelter (Decatur, IL) made one of the strongest final-round moves of the championship, improving by five shots with a second-round 75 to climb into a tie for second at 11-over alongside Matt Borgmeyer (Wentzville, MO), who posted rounds of 75-80.

Matt Roling (Shellsburg, IA) finished fourth at 12-over, while David Adams (Fenton, MO) completed the top five at 13-over.

Feuerhaken secured the Homecoming title and the Division 2 winner’s payout north of $900.

    Division 3

Scott Harper (Millstadt, IL) built an early advantage with an opening-round 77 and maintained his position throughout Sunday’s final round to earn the Homecoming title.

Harper’s two-day total of 14-over was enough to hold off a tightly packed chasing group that featured multiple players within striking distance entering the second round.

James Heath (Georgetown, KY) and Michael Burch (St. Louis, MO) shared runner-up honors at 22-over. Brooks VanderVeen (Wheaton, IL) finished fourth at 23-over, while Lofton Rowley (Benton, KY), Steven Beckstead (Eagle Mountain, UT), Brandon Hale (Lee’s Summit, MO), and Jason Dale (Knoxville, TN) tied for fifth at 25-over.

Harper earned the Division 3 title and the largest gross division payout of the weekend at $1,000.

    Division 4

Scott Sahli (Salem, MO) continued an outstanding season by adding another major championship victory to his resume.

Sahli posted back-to-back rounds of 81 to finish at 18-over, separating himself from the field by nine shots. Consistency proved to be the difference, as Sahli avoided the large numbers that challenged much of the division throughout the weekend.

Baxton Owen (Salem, MO) and James Chambers (Glen White, WV) shared second place at 27-over. Doyle “Duke” Price (DeSoto, MO) and Joey Fyall II (Charleston, WV) tied for fourth at 28-over, while Daniel Happel (Belleville, IL) finished sixth at 30-over.

Sahli added another major championship victory to his season and claimed the Division 4 first-place payout of just below $1,000.

    Division 5

Mark Smith (Johnston City, IL) earned the Division 5 title after posting rounds of 86-90 for a two-day total of 32-over.

Roger Eberlein (Valley Park, MO) finished second at 41-over, while Aaron Holman (Newark, OH) claimed third at 46-over. Tim Nuoffer (Dublin, OH) finished fourth at 48-over, and Chris Brockmeyer (Saint Charles, MO), Jerry Crabtree (Van Buren, AR), and Wayman Declue (Dupo, IL) shared fifth place at 51-over.

Smith earned the Homecoming title in Division 5 along with the division’s $840 first-place payout.

    Net Competitions

The net divisions once again produced some of the strongest scoring of the weekend, with players taking advantage of every opportunity during a two-day major championship that featured changing weather conditions and significant pressure.

Scott Sahli completed one of the most impressive performances of the weekend by adding the Mid-Am Net title to his Division 4 championship. Sahli posted matching rounds of 68 to finish at 8-under par, four shots clear of the field.

Scott Harper (Millstadt, IL) finished second at even par, while Matt Roling (Shellsburg, IA) and Joey Fyall II (Charleston, WV) shared third place at 2-over. Sahli’s consistent play across both competitions earned him the Mid-Am Net title and the division’s $625 first-place payout.

The Senior Net division featured one of the deepest fields of the championship, with 14 players competing for one of the largest purses of the weekend. James Chambers opened with an impressive 9-under 63 on Saturday and followed it with a 2-under 70 on Sunday to finish at 11-under par and secure the title. Jason Dale finished runner-up at 5-under after rounds of 68-71, while Barney Sutley claimed third at 3-under. Mark Smith and Doyle “Duke” Price shared fourth place at 2-under.

Chambers earned the Senior Net title along with the division’s $930 first-place payout, the largest net prize awarded during the Homecoming Major.

As another Homecoming Major comes to a close, the significance of the event remains clear. From the players who have competed in Homecoming for years to those experiencing it for the first time, Annbriar continues to provide a fitting stage for one of the most important weekends on the Amateur Players Tour calendar.

With the season entering the summer stretch, the race for Player of the Year points intensifies across every division as players turn their attention toward the next major stop on the road to the North American Championship, the next Major on the calendar is the APT Independence Open at Ozark National and Buffalo Ridge in Hollister, Missouri!
