Tournament Champions
Not a cloud in the sky made for a beautiful day of golf, but the challenging tree-lined layout once again proved why it remains one of the toughest tests on the Atlanta schedule. With out of bounds and penalty areas waiting on nearly every hole, players knew there was very little room for error. Aggressive swings could lead to birdie chances, but one mistake could quickly turn into a big number.
Division 1 belonged to first-time winner Adam Hornstra, who wasted no time making a statement by holing out for eagle on the opening hole. The incredible start immediately gave Hornstra momentum, and he never really looked back from there. Steady play throughout the rest of the round helped him post an impressive 2 under par 70 to earn his first APT victory in style.
Division 2 saw Luke Maggart put together one of the strongest closing stretches of the day. After carding an eagle early in the round, Maggart found himself needing a late push to separate from a tightly packed leaderboard. He responded by birdieing two of his final three holes to secure a hard-fought one-shot victory.
Division 3 delivered plenty of drama as William Smith and Jeff Adams both signed for matching rounds of 85. Unfortunately, with the beautiful weather bringing a completely full golf course, playoff holes were not available to settle the tie on the course. Instead, the division came down to a scorecard playoff, where Adams’ strong back nine proved to be the difference and earned him the trophy.
Division 4 saw Paul Kattookaran continue his impressive run since joining the Tour. Consistent play throughout the round helped him capture his third victory of the season, further establishing himself as one of the players to watch in Atlanta this year.
In Division 5, chapter owner Tim Harbin utilized two birdies on the day to secure his second victory of the season. Harbin also added the Mid-Am Net title after edging out another tightly contested field, while Kattookaran completed the Division 4 sweep by also claiming the Senior Net trophy.
Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you to everyone who came out to compete. Atlanta continues to produce strong fields, competitive golf, and another great day on the APT schedule.
