AMATEUR PLAYERS TOUR – COLUMBUS CHAPTER

What a day at Denison Golf Club at Granville!
This Donald Ross classic, built in 1924 and opened in 1925, once again proved why it is considered one of the best public golf courses in the Midwest. With its rolling hills, elevated greens, and 63 well-placed bunkers, the course was in fantastic shape and provided a true test for our field of 52 players.
Here are the results!
DIVISION 1 – 3 Players
1st - Matt Malone – Ashland, OH – 73 (+2)
2nd - Dustin Fields – Xenia, OH
3rd - Adam Black – Dublin, OH
Matt Malone fired an impressive +2 round of 73 to take down defending 2025 champion and current Cincinnati/Dayton Player of the Year standings leader Dustin Fields by two shots. Adam Black finished just one shot behind Fields to round out the top three.
DIVISION 2 – 11 Players
1st - Jason Fischer – Chillicothe, OH – 74 (+3)
2nd - Thad Smith – Chillicothe, OH
3rd - Jeremy Roush – Coolville, OH
Defending 2025 champion Jason Fischer successfully defended his Denison title, picking up his second Tour victory of the season with a two-shot win over Thad Smith. Jeremy Roush rounded out the top three, finishing just three shots behind Fischer.
DIVISION 3 – 12 Players
1st - Jason Wright – Oak Hill, OH – 77 (+6)
2nd - Tom McNerlin – Oak Hill, OH
3rd - Brandon Kristy – Reynoldsburg, OH
The current 2026 Division 3 Player of the Year standings leader, Jason Wright, increased his points lead, but it came down to the final hole!
Tom McNerlin needed a birdie on No. 18 to force a playoff, but a missed birdie putt gave Wright the victory. Brandon Kristy finished third to round out the podium.
DIVISION 4 – 12 Players
1st - Chris Berry – Carroll, OH – 83 (+12)
2nd - Van “Mr. Consistency” Rome – Canal Winchester, OH
3rd - Brandon Turner – Heath, OH
Chris Berry is absolutely locked in!
Berry picked up his third victory in his last four events, as the current Division 4 Player of the Year standings leader cruised to a three-shot victory over Van “Mr. Consistency” Rome. Brandon Turner finished just one shot behind Rome to take third.
DIVISION 5 – 13 Players
1st - Aaron Holman – Newark, OH – 86 (+15)
2nd - Doc Sherman – Pleasant City, OH
3rd - Kevin Filby – Lewis Center, OH & Tyler Philo – Beavercreek, OH
The Division 5 field battled the tough Denison layout, but defending 2025 champion Aaron Holman wasn’t about to give up his title!
Holman successfully defended his championship with a three-shot victory over Doc Sherman, while Kevin Filby and Tyler Philo tied for third.
MID-AM NET – 7 Players
1st - Chris Berry
2nd - Kevin Filby
2nd - Tyler Philo
DOUBLE-DIPPED – Chris Berry went home with TWO victories, adding the Mid-Am Net title with a one-shot victory over Kevin Filby. Tyler Philo finished just one shot behind Filby.
SENIOR NET – 18 Players
1st - Jason Wright
2nd - Doc Sherman & Aaron Holman
The current Senior Net Player of the Year standings leader Jason Wright added another trophy to the collection, winning by three shots over Doc Sherman and Aaron Holman.
