Tournament Champions
The Links of Gettysburg are always a challenge. Throw in a little wind and limited breaks of sunshine, and the course is a beast to tame. The first five holes on the front 9 can break the spirit of any mortal man. A slight miss on these first 5 holes can lead to extra strokes in the blink of an eye. The tee boxes also seemed to be playing at the longest settings, but the Competitors came to play and went after the course aggressively.
Division 1
Three Competitors were in the Division to battle it out for the trophy. Jay Pagana (Selinsgrove, PA) held the front 9 in check with only 2 bogies. The back 9 gathered an extra 5, but he was able to hold on through the round with a final score of 79 and take the top spot. Buzz Buzinski (Alexandria, VA) and Stephen Weiss (Blandon, PA) were tied for 2nd when the dust settled.
Division 2
There were 7 players for Division 2, and the competition was close, right down to the wire. Mike Vawter (Dayton, MD) was able to edge out the victory by 2 strokes over Ronald Patterson (Elizabethtown, PA). Patterson came out swinging on the back 9 with a birdie on 10 and an eagle on 13 but in the end, it was not enough. Patterson earned 3 Division skins for the day.
Division 3
14 Competitors entered the fray in Division 3. The top two came in tied after 18 holes at 88 for the round. Andrew Frank (Carlisle, PA) and Charles Hertel (Clarksburg, MD) would head to a sudden death playoff to finalize the winner. Frank was able to launch an arrow straight down the left edge of the fairway on hole one. He received an amazing bounce that put him within the perfect line to approach the green. Frank was on the green in 2 and closed the deal to win the playoff on the 1st hole by 1 stroke.
Division 4
D4 went out with 11 Players in the field, but the day belonged to Barry Myers (Newville, PA). Barry started on hole 1 with a double but quickly turned it right by closing the front with only 4 over par. There was some struggle on the back but at the finish line, Barry claimed the crown with a round of 85. 2nd place was a tie between Josh King (Manheim, PA) and Jesse Deutsch (Haverford, PA) with a final of 88.
Division 5
