Heron Creek Golf & Country Club – May 31, 2026
We hosted our fourth event of the Southwest Florida 2026 season on Sunday, May 31 at Heron Creek Golf & Country Club. Fortunately, the sun stayed behind the clouds most of the day, as 39 players braved the heat to tackle the very difficult Creek and Oaks courses. Highlights of the different divisions included:
- Division 1: We had a smaller than normal D1 group this week with only three players. One of the players was a guest, Leo Low, who was just checking us out before moving upnorth to Chicago. Leo carded a 2 over par 38 on the front to take a 4-shot lead over Kipper House. On the back nine, House would gain one shot back, but it was not enough to catch Low who won his membership!
- Division 2: This one was tight most of the day. Mike Lingenfelter and Nick Westbrook fired 1-over 37s on the front to take a 1 shot lead over Trent Bell. On the back Lingenfelter stumbled a bit to a 43, and Bell would fire a 42 to end the 18 holes in a tie! That setup an exciting sudden death playoff. On the first hole, Lingenfelter would split the fairway, while Bell blasted a drive seemingly down the middle as well. However, Bell’s drive went through the sharp dogleg left fairway and into an unplayable lie. He would take a drop and eventually make a 6. Lingenfelter stuck his second shot to 4 feet and made the birdie putt to win the playoff and the trophy!
- Division 3: On the front nine, three players carded +6 42s (Josh Acevedo, Mike Steele, and Nolan Elenz), with two more carding 43s (Dylan Rich, and John Moore). Half the division was in contention after the front nine! On the back, Steele would follow his front up with a 43, but it was not enough to match the 40 from Acevedo, who took home the 3-shot victory.
- Division 4: This one saw newcomer, Bill Connington shoot a 44 and take a one-shot lead over John Oursler, two over Dan Wojcik, and three over Josh Hull. Again, almost half of the D4 field was in contention after the front! On the back, Wojcik would remain very consistent and post twin 46s, but it was not enough to keep up with Oursler who bettered his front by a stroke taking home the 3-shot victory!
- Division 5: This turned into a dog fight! On the front nine, Mike Bushee took a 4-shot lead on Jeromy Sigler and 5 over Quinton Allen. On the back, Bushee would stumble coming home, and Sigler caught him late to force our second playoff of the day! On the first hole of the playoff, both players hit their drives side-by-side in the middle of the fairway. Both would hit their approach shots into the front-left greenside bunker. From there, they exited the bunker with Bushee being around 30-feet away, and Sigler only 6 feet from the hole! After an unfortunate 3-putt by Bushee, Sigler won the playoff with a bogey!
- Mid-Am Net: Two of the hottest players on the course, Josh Acevedo and Jeromy Sigler both shot -4 32 on one of their nines! That’s quite a feat! However, Sigler married his 32 with a 33 to take the one-shot victory over Acevedo.
- Senior Net: In this one, the Lingenfelter brothers (Mike and Rusty) would take the early lead with Mike firing a -3 and Rusty just one back at 34 after the front nine. However, there were several others just a few shots back. On the back nine, Mike Steele would fire a 36 for a -1 total! However, Mike Bushee would streak up the leaderboard with a 32 of his own on the back to force a scorecard playoff for the trophy! Since Bushee had the stronger back nine (32), he would take home the hardware!
A huge thank you goes out to Brandon Grecco and the entire staff at Heron Creek for making sure we had what we needed and made sure everything went smoothly.
Our next event is at River Hall Country Club in Alva, and it will be on Sunday, June 7. Remember, the more players we get, the bigger the payouts! Sign up now for your spot to play! Registration closes on June 2!
