2026 FSW Player of the Year Race

On April 25, 2026, we started our third season as an official Amateur Players Tour chapter.  We started with right at 100 members across our 5 divisions.  This season saw some old faces not returning, some brand new faces, and several players come back after a hiatus!  We grew this season to 109 members.  Below are the highlights of each division’s Player of the Year races.  

• Division 1: Gage Basiletti repeated as the D1 Player of the Year for Southwest Florida.  At the Winter Shootout at Reunion, with many good D1 players present, he shot 70 in windy conditions on the final day to win that event.  In addition to winning that national event, he also won 8 times in our 14 local events.  He didn’t win locally until early June when he won at River Hall.  Then, he won the next week at Calusa Country Club.  He won 5 of the last 7 local events in our chapter, solidifying himself as a dominant force in D1 both locally and nationally.   Not only is he a solid player, but he is one of our biggest ambassadors.  If you come to one of our events and hang out afterwards, Gage will be there welcoming new people and chatting with the regulars.   

• Division 2: This race was very tight most of the season between Nick Westbrook, and Danny Magruder.  Both had very solid seasons, but Nick was able to win 6 times in 10 events, a very impressive 60%-win rate.  Nick did not always come out guns blazing, but you could count on him to be very steady down the stretch, and when others would falter, Nick would be there to win with steady play. Nick is also an APT ambassador both after tournaments and on his socials.  Nick has a large following on his socials and that helps to spread the word to others and that helps us grow.   

• Division 3: Josh Acevedo took the D3 Player of the Year with consistent play and 3 wins mixed in.  Early in the season, Josh was battling Mike Steele for the top spot.  Unfortunately, Steele had surgery and was out for the season.  Josh’s consistent play, especially at key events, helped to propel him to the top spot.  Josh’s success proves that you don’t have to win every week to earn a PotY award – consistency is equally important.  Josh is another ambassador for us hanging out and talking with people about why he likes playing our events.   

• Division 4: This is probably our largest and most competitive division, week-in-and-week-out.  Halfway through our season, Clay Metzger moved down to Bradenton from St. Louis, and he brought his A-game with him!  After winning twice up in St. Louis early in the season, Clay moved down south and kept up his strong play here adding 2 second place finishes before winning two events in a row.  Playing well, got him promoted to D3 for Finals!  Clay proved that he belongs in D3 finishing second in our local Finals!  A perfect cap to an amazing season for Clay.   

• Division 5: Greg Gastfield started off his season taking second place at the Innisbrook National event, in St. Petersberg.  That put him in the lead and he would play very steadily throughout the season.  He had 2 wins in Orlando chapter events, as well as 2 wins in our local events.  After two seasons of finishing second in the D5 Player of the Year race, Greg was battling it out again this season with Jeromy Sigler.  If Sigler won the Finals, he could overtake Gastfield.  However, this was Gastfield’s season, and Sigler came up short in the Finals sealing the Player of the Year honors for Gastfield.  Greg is another one of our big ambassadors.  He is always hanging out after a tournament and looking for ways to make things better for our chapter and other players.   

• Mid-Am Net: This one was close all season, between Jeromy Sigler, Gage Basiletti, and Nick Westbrook.  They all took turns winning!  Gage had 4 wins, Jeromy had 5 wins and a third-place finish at Innisbrook (National event), and Nick had 4 wins!  Jeromy lead going into the finals and there was plenty of banter between him and Gage about the PotY and they both agreed to let the course decide.  It took the Finals to decide the winner, and when Basiletti and Westbrook tied for the win, Sigler tied for third and did not get enough points to maintain his lead, and Basiletti won the Player of the Year honors.  This one was a good mix of D1, D2, and D5 and they all won multiple times, but there can only be one winner, and this time it was Basiletti.   

• Senior Net: PotY for Senior Net was also a very tight one all season long!  Greg Gastfield, and Mike Bushee each had 4 wins and 2 seconds at local events, and Gastfield added a 5^th place finish at the Innisbrook National event.  Lingenfelter placed 8^th at Innisbrook and had 2 wins and 3 seconds locally. In the end, Lingenfelter won the finals and overtook Gastfield in the last event.  Again, all three had great seasons, but Lingenfelter made the most of his wins!
