🏆 LOCAL FINALS DELIVER AN INCREDIBLE FINISH AT TIMBERGATE
Indianapolis APT Crowns Its Local Finals Champions
The Indianapolis Amateur Players Tour has officially wrapped up its two-day Local Finals at Timbergate Golf Course, and the event proved to be everything a championship should be—and then some.
After an exciting opening round, players returned to Timbergate on Day 2 with championships, trophies, and bragging rights on the line. When the final putts dropped, several divisions required dramatic comebacks and extra holes to determine the champions.
Located in Edinburgh, Indiana, Timbergate Golf Course provided an outstanding championship setting. Designed by Clyde Johnston with Indiana native Fuzzy Zoeller, the links-style layout features numerous tee options, 11 ponds, strategically placed bunkers, and bluegrass and fescue rough surrounding the holes. The course is designed to challenge experienced players while remaining playable for golfers of all skill levels. (Timbergate Golf Course)
And challenge the players it did.
🏆 DIVISION 1 — SUTLEY WINS IN PLAYOFF DRAMA
Division 1 provided perhaps the most dramatic finish of the weekend.
Nathan Stotler and Barney Sutley entered the final day battling for the championship, and when the dust settled, both players finished the 36-hole event at 9 over par.
Sutley, however, wasn’t content to simply finish tied.
After starting the day three strokes behind, Sutley delivered when it mattered most, firing an impressive 1-over-par 73 to erase the deficit and force a playoff.
The first playoff hole saw both players make par, keeping the championship alive.
Then came the second playoff hole.
Sutley again found par, while Stotler carded a bogey. That was all Sutley needed.

It was a tremendous comeback and a championship finish worthy of the Local Finals.
🏆 DIVISION 2 — SOUDERS COMES FROM BEHIND
Division 2 also featured an impressive comeback.
Travis Souders began the final round facing a four-stroke deficit, but he refused to let the overnight leaderboard determine the outcome.
Souders fired a 5-over-par 77 on Day 2 to finish the championship at 11 over par, completing the comeback and claiming the Division 2 title.
Nathan Fieldhouse put together another strong tournament to finish runner-up, while Cole Thomas secured third place.
A four-stroke comeback on championship Sunday made Souders’ victory one of the weekend’s standout performances.
🏆 DIVISION 3 — BLACKBURN MAKES A STATEMENT
If there was one round that stood out in Division 3, it was the performance turned in by John Blackburn.
Blackburn entered Day 2 facing an enormous eight-stroke deficit.
Eight strokes.
But instead of playing it safe, Blackburn went out and produced the round of his career.
Blackburn fired a career-best even-par 72, completely erasing the deficit and turning the championship upside down.
When the final scores were tallied, Blackburn had secured the Division 3 championship by two strokes.
James Heath put up an incredible fight to finish second, while Rex Meyer rounded out the podium in third.
Blackburn’s eight-stroke comeback will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most impressive performances of the Local Finals.
🏆 DIVISION 4 — FOUR PLAYOFF HOLES TO DECIDE A CHAMPION
Division 4 wasn’t going to be decided easily.
Tim Jenkins and John Pfeifer finished the 36-hole championship tied at 24 over par, sending the division into a playoff.
And these two weren’t about to give anything away.
Both players made par on the first playoff hole.
Then they did it again on the second.
And again on the third.
Three playoff holes and still no champion.
Finally, on the fourth playoff hole, Jenkins found the par he needed while Pfeifer couldn’t match him.

Pfeifer finished runner-up after an incredible playoff battle, while David Anthony finished third, just one stroke back.
🏆 DIVISION 5 — SOUDERS GOES WIRE TO WIRE
In Division 5, Kristie Souders left no doubt.
Souders went wire to wire, controlling the division from the opening round and finishing the two-day championship at 30 over par to claim the title.
Gary Buenconsejo continued his impressive play to finish second, while Kyle Kammer took third.
A wire-to-wire championship is always impressive, and Souders delivered from start to finish.
🏆 MID-AM NET — KAMMER TAKES THE HARDWARE
The Mid-Am Net division saw Kyle Kammer put together an outstanding two-day performance.
Kammer finished the Local Finals at an impressive 4-under-par total to take home the championship hardware.
James Heath finished runner-up, while Nathan Stotler and Jason Walling shared third place.
🏆 SENIOR NET — ANTHONY DOMINATES
The Senior Net division featured some impressive scoring of its own.
David Anthony put together a fantastic two-day performance, finishing at 7-under par to claim the championship.
Robert Bradford finished second at 5-under par, while Rex Meyer took third.
Anthony’s seven-under performance capped off an outstanding weekend.
🎉 A LOCAL FINALS WORTHY OF THE NAME
The Indianapolis Amateur Players Tour Local Finals promised two days of championship golf—and the players delivered.
We saw playoff drama, incredible comebacks, career-best rounds, wire-to-wire victories and championship-level performances throughout the field.
Barney Sutley erased a three-stroke deficit and won Division 1 in a playoff.
Travis Souders overcame four strokes to capture Division 2.
John Blackburn erased an incredible eight-stroke deficit with a career-best 72.
Tim Jenkins needed four playoff holes to claim Division 4.
Kristie Souders went wire to wire in Division 5.
And the Net divisions produced impressive performances of their own.
That’s what the Local Finals are supposed to be.
Two days. One championship.
And when it was all said and done, the Indianapolis Amateur Players Tour had crowned its Local Finals champions.
Congratulations to all of our champions, runners-up, and everyone who competed throughout the weekend.
Most importantly, thank you to every player who helped make the 2026 Indianapolis APT season such an incredible ride.
