Tournament Champions
It’s always an adventure in the Midwest during storm season! Despite calls for all day rain, we only had two lightening delays, a brief downpour and a course that drains quickly! A sold out field of 90 players battled across 5 divisions and two net games for an opportunity to take home the win! Check out the recap below:
In Division 1 we had a packed leaderboard and multiple lead changes throughout the day. Longtime members Robert Spriggel, Kory Glasgow and chapter owner Jake Englebrake all saw their names at the top. But it was newcomers Justin Orpin and Zach Driver-Heiland who came out swinging! Justin fired off an impressive 3 birdies on the back 9, clawing his way back up the leaderboard, while Zach benefited from a -1 score on the front nine. Robert Spriggel kept his head down and stayed consistent throughout the day, claiming 2nd place. Coming into 18, it was anyone’s tournament to win but Zach pulled it together to take home his first win on APT!
In Division 2 it was a battle between Alex Lederer and Christian Eikermann. Alex started off slow, with Christian shooting +2 through nine. Christian continued his dominant play, firing off two birdies on the back nine, offset by two bogies. Not to be outshined, Alex grinded, scoring an eagle on hole 10, and two more birdies for an impressive 33, taking home another win at Adams Pointe!
In Division 3 we had another stacked leaderboard with 6 players all within 3 strokes. Delbert was first to the clubhouse, carding an 80. With multiple groups left to finish, it was anyone’s game to win. Karl Mckinney, Allen Strausbaugh and Brian Empson just needed to hold it together for a few more holes. Karl finished strong, with two birdies on the back 9, while Allen stumbled on the final few holes. Brian continued his consistent play, but without a few birdies, he wasn’t able to catch Delbert. Congratulations Delbert on your first win with APT!
In Division 4 it was purely a battle between Alan Parker and newcomer Collin Tucker. With only 1 stroke separating the two after 9 holes, the back nine was going to be a battle. Collin fired off an two birdies but faltered on hole 14 with a double. Alan played consistent, with a birdie on 13, but finished bogey bogey on the final two holes, giving Collin his first win on APT!
In Division 5 we saw two familiar faces at the top of the leaderboard, Max Leonard and Jake Overton. Both Jake and Max came into this event with wins at Colbert Hills and Kirksville CC. The competition between the two came down to the final hole. All Max needed was a bogey or better to take home the win. With a stumble on 18 by Max, it was another playoff in Division 5. With sunlight fading due to the two delays, our winner was chosen by a scorecard playoff. Both players tied for the event and the final 9 holes leading us to the next step, the best score through the final 6 holes. Max edged out Jake by 1 stroke, securing his 2nd win of the season!
In our Senior Net competition we had another scorecard playoff between Alan Parker and Allen Strausbaugh, with Alan Parker taking home the win by 1 stroke! In our Mid-Am Net competition, Jody Garner edged out JJ Gladden and Max Leonard to take home his first net win of the year!
Congrats to all of the players and thank you for your patience during each of our weather delays!
