🏆 2026 AMATEUR PLAYERS TOUR MINNEAPOLIS — LOCAL FINALS RECAP 🏆
And just like that, the 2026 season is in the books.
The Amateur Players Tour Minneapolis Chapter closed out the year Sunday, August 30, at the Signature Course at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake, Minnesota for our Local Finals.
The morning began calm, but conditions changed as the round went along. Humidity moved in, a few raindrops made an appearance, and a little breeze greeted the field down the stretch. With Local Finals championships and the final points in our season-long Player of the Year races on the line, there was plenty left to play for.
⛳ DIVISION 1
Jackson Goerges entered the final nine one shot behind Leo Stepan after Stepan opened with a 40 to Goerges’ 41. Goerges answered with a 39 coming home, including a birdie on the par-5 1st, to turn the one-shot deficit into a one-shot victory.

It was the beginning of a pretty good day for Goerges — and certainly wouldn’t be his last trip to the winner’s circle.
⛳ DIVISION 2
Division 2 produced another comeback.
Mike Dalton appeared to be in control after the opening nine, firing a 41 to build a three-shot advantage over Chris Van Spankeren, who opened with a 44.
Van Spankeren flipped the script over the final nine. Six pars helped him post a 39 coming home, while Dalton finished with a 43. The four-shot swing was enough for Van Spankeren to come all the way back and take the title by one.

⛳ DIVISION 3
Geoffrey Zahn started with a three-shot advantage over Mike Van Spankeren after the opening nine and only got stronger from there.
Zahn made seven pars over his final nine holes on the way to a 39 coming home and an 82 (+10) total. That extended his advantage to eight shots and secured the Division 3 Local Finals championship.

⛳ DIVISION 4
If there was a theme Sunday, it was that no lead was safe.
Russell Finch looked to be in great position after opening with a 44 and taking a five-shot advantage over Ted Chapman into the final nine.
Then came another huge turnaround.
Chapman steadied himself with a 45 coming home while Finch struggled to a 52. The seven-shot swing erased the entire deficit and gave Chapman a two-stroke victory.

⛳ MID-AM NET
One championship couldn’t even be decided after 18 holes.
Leo Stepan opened with a net 37 to take a two-shot advantage over Jackson Goerges into the final nine. Goerges responded with an even-par net 36 coming home, highlighted by three net birdies, while Stepan closed with a 38.
Both finished at 75 (+3), sending the championship to a scorecard playoff.
And when the tiebreaker was applied, it was Goerges coming out on top to earn his second Local Finals championship of the day.

⛳ SENIOR NET
Mike Dalton put together one of the steadiest net rounds of the day, opening with a 37 to build a four-shot advantage over Donald Scott.
Scott provided one of the day’s highlights with a net eagle on No. 18 and improved to a 39 over his final nine, but Dalton kept the pressure on. A closing 38 gave Dalton a 75 (+3) and the Senior Net Local Finals championship.

Local Finals also put the finishing touches on our season-long races, and we’re proud to recognize the 2026 Amateur Players Tour Minneapolis Players of the Year:

Player of the Year isn’t won with one great round. It’s earned over an entire season of showing up, competing, and consistently putting yourself in position. Congratulations to all six players on earning one of our biggest season-long honors.
And with that, our 2026 Minneapolis season comes to a close.
Thank you to every player who teed it up with us this year. Thank you for traveling, competing, supporting our events, bringing friends, battling for every point and — most importantly — helping continue to build the Amateur Players Tour here in Minnesota.
We’ve had champions crowned, close finishes, playoffs, good rounds, bad rounds, new faces and plenty of memories along the way.
The tournaments are what bring us together, but the players are what make the Tour.
Congratulations one more time to Sunday’s Local Finals champions, our 2026 Players of the Year, and everyone who was part of the season.
