The New Jersey Amateur Players Tour made its stop at Eagle Ridge Golf Club for the Soaring Eagle Invitational on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, welcoming a competitive field of 42 players. While the skies were partly sunny, players had to battle through cool temperatures and steady winds, adding an extra layer of difficulty throughout the day.

Located in Lakewood, Eagle Ridge offers a challenging and scenic layout that rewards smart course management and consistency. With its mix of tree-lined fairways, well-placed hazards, and demanding greens, the course puts every aspect of a player’s game to the test—from accuracy off the tee to precision around the greens.

The event featured straight tee times beginning at 9:30 AM, and despite the challenging conditions, competitors embraced the test from the first swing to the final putt. Eagle Ridge once again proved to be a worthy and exciting stop on the New Jersey Amateur Players Tour schedule, delivering a memorable day of competition for all divisions.

We were proud to 7 new members to the tour – Kyle Lisa, Brandon Welden, Ryan Chafe, Daniel Kim, Kyle Siegle, and Kyle Rabbitt and Tom Olson.

A total of $640 was up for grabs across Division Skins and Super Skins, contributing to an impressive overall prize pool of $1,537 across Divisions 1–5, as well as Mid-Am Net and Senior Net.

    Division 1

Adam Fuchs entered the Soaring Eagle Invitational with momentum, fresh off a championship performance at Shackamaxon just six days prior. Making the turn at even par, Fuchs held a commanding six-shot lead over Charle LeeKyle Lisa made a strong push on the back nine, posting a +3 (39) to match Fuchs’ closing stretch. It was enough to secure solo second place with a final score of +10 (82), but not enough to catch Fuchs, who sealed back-to-back victories with a final score of +3 (75).

Division 2 featured a competitive field of 7 players.

At the turn, Adam Gamble held a slim one-shot lead at +2 (38), with Roy Choi close behind at +3 (39). The duo had separated themselves from the rest of the field, setting the stage for a head-to-head battle down the stretch. Choi came out strong on the back nine with back-to-back pars, while Gamble stumbled with consecutive bogeys. By the time they reached the 14th hole, the two were all square. The turning point came on hole 17, where Gamble made bogey and Choi capitalized with a par to take the lead. Heading to 18, Gamble managed a par, putting the pressure on Choi to match it for the win—which he did. Choi secured the victory with a final score of +6 (78), while Gamble finished solo second at +7 (79). Expect to see more battles between these two in upcoming events.

Division 3 had a strong field of 14 players.

Just four strokes separated first from third, setting up a tight race heading into the back nine. At the turn, Michael Gaytan led the way at +4 (40), holding a two-shot advantage over Larry Barber at +6 (42)Jerry D’Ascoli sat three back at +7 (43), while Dylan D’AmatoJake Gray, and Nick Lazarchuck were all within striking distance at +8 (44)

As the winds picked up and the tougher back nine took its toll, Gaytan’s lead began to slip after a few costly holes. The battle quickly shifted to Barber and D’Amato, separated by just a few strokes down the stretch. D’Amato finished strong to claim solo second with a +16 (88)Gaytan and D’Ascoli ultimately finished tied for third, each carding +17 (89)

but it was Barber who stayed steady enough to take home the trophy, posting a winning score of +14 (85).

    Division 4

It was a tight race at the turn, with Illyas Sarwari leading at +6 (42), followed closely by Carmine Ciccarelli at +8 (44) and newcomer Daniel Kim at +9 (45). As the field headed to the back nine, the question was who would separate from the pack. Sarwari couldn’t maintain his pace, opening the door for others to make a move. Darren Barberio made a strong push with a +7 (43) on the back, finishing third at +16 (88)Kim stayed consistent to secure solo second at +15 (87). The standout performance, however, came from Ciccarelli, who fired an impressive +5 (41) on the back nine to surge into the lead and capture the win with a final score of +13 (85)

    Division 5

It was another tight race heading to the back nine, with Peter Kratzel holding a slim one-shot lead at +10 (46)Paul Taylor and Stephen Kraus were right behind at +11 (47), setting the stage for a competitive finish. As the round unfolded, the leaderboard shuffled, and it was Taylor who made the decisive move—carding birdies on holes 16 and 18 to surge ahead. His strong finish secured the victory with a final score of +21 (93)

Kratzel and Frank Romano ended up tied for second, each finishing at +26 (98), while the battle down the stretch proved just how close this division was from start to finish.

The Mid-Am Net  featured a strong field of 15 players, with payouts awarded to the top 3 finishersDaniel Kim and Illyas Sarwari shared second place, each posting a net score of +3 (75)Carmine Ciccarelli, who also captured the Division 4 title, added to his impressive day by winning the Mid-Am Net as well, finishing with a standout net score of -2 (70).
