Kristian Alexander Stays Hot at Fall Final Event of 2025
APT Portland hosted its final Fall 2025 tournament at The Reserve Vineyards on the South Course on November 8th. A 36-hole facility, the club features a unique membership setup: from the 1st to the 15th of each month, the North Course is available exclusively to members while the South Course is public. From the 16th through the end of the month, the rotation flips, with the South Course becoming private and the North Course open to the public.
In addition to being an Elevated Tournament, the event also supported Folds of Honor, one of the Amateur Players Tour’s partners. The nonprofit provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled service members.
Division Breakdown
It was all Benjamin Ciobanu in Division 2. After opening with a steady front nine at +2, he separated himself from the field and went on to cruise to a six-shot victory in the top division.
It took Kristian Alexander four birdies to defeat Nirmal Shrestha in Division 3. The two were neck and neck throughout the round, but a birdie on the 15th extended Alexander’s lead to two, which Shrestha could not overcome. Alexander’s +3 (75) featured solid play throughout, with his performance on the par 5s (–1) proving to be the difference.
Jared Jesus Soria trailed Richard Mirande and John Lowe by three shots, and John Moyle by one at the turn, but a strong back nine changed everything. Playing the final five holes in +1 helped turn it into a runaway victory in Division 4. He also made the only birdie in the division on the par-5 15th hole, helping seal the win.
Division 5 saw Clinton Slayton take home the top prize, adding 30 points to his Player of the Year total.
The Mid-Amateur Net Division was anyone’s game, but four net eagles were just enough for Kristian Alexander to post a –8 (64) and defeat Niranjan Shrestha by two shots. Nirmal Shrestha (–4, 68) and Prabhakar Lama (–3, 69) also turned in strong rounds below par.
Michael Tighe came out of the gate flying, playing his first five holes at –4. He went on to take the Senior Net Division, with Norman Davis coming in second place.
Top Money Winners
For the second tournament in a row, it was Kristian Alexander leading the way. After securing top money honors at the previous APT Portland event at Tri-Mountain, he did it again, bringing his total across the two tournaments to more than $750. Yes, he was the top winner, but he was far from the only one.
As mentioned above, Kristian Alexander led the way with $430 in winnings.
Michael Tighe’s name appeared just once on the leaderboard, but it was in a big spot, earning $150 for winning the Senior Net Division.
Niranjan Shrestha did not win a division, but a runner-up finish in the Mid-Amateur Net Division along with a few skins resulted in $105 in prize money.
Rounding out the top group, John Moyle won $55 in the skins game and another $45 for his second-place finish in Division 4, bringing his total to $100.
Best of the Day
Tony Bautista and Kristian Alexander each earned $35 for winning the Closest to the Pin contests.
