Champions Toast to Victory at the 2026 Wine Country Championship
The Southern California chapter of the Amateur Players Tour delivered a vintage performance this past weekend in Temecula. Held April 18–19, the Wine Country Championship (an Elevated points event) tested the field’s resolve across the scenic but demanding layouts of Redhawk Golf Club and Journey at Pechanga.
While the golf was top-tier, the hardware was equally impressive. In a nod to the region’s rich heritage, flight winners didn’t just take home points—they secured the tournament’s signature custom wine barrel trophies. Not to be left out, the runners-up walked away with a taste of the valley, receiving a select bottle of wine sourced from local Temecula vineyards.
The Leaderboard
From clutch putts on Redhawk’s island green to navigating the massive elevation drops at Journey, these players outlasted the field to claim the barrels:

Weekend Highlights
The weekend was defined by Victor Lopez, who put on a clinic in local knowledge and execution. By sweeping both the Division 4 title and the Mid-Am Net honors, Lopez ensured his trophy mantle would be well-stocked heading into the summer season.
The split-course format provided the ultimate “Wine Country” experience. Saturday at Redhawk required precision and a delicate touch on the greens, while Sunday at Journey at Pechanga demanded bold tee shots and strategic navigation of the natural terrain.
With the 2026 Wine Country Championship now in the books, the focus shifts to the National Points race, where these champions have earned a massive boost toward the season-ending finale.
Congratulations to all the winners—cheers to a spectacular weekend of golf!
