Stanton Ridge Golf and Country Club

What a kickoff to the 2026 season –

April 20th, 2026 marked a milestone day for the New Jersey Amateur Players Tour as we kicked off the season — and hosted the inaugural Battle at the Ridge at Stanton Ridge Golf and Country Club.

Set among the rolling hills of Hunterdon County, Stanton Ridge is known for its scenic elevation changes, wide fairways, and challenging greens that demand precision on approach shots. With a layout that rewards smart course management while still offering scoring opportunities, it proved to be the perfect venue for a season-opening test.

This Elevated Event carried serious weight — offering double points toward the Player of the Year race and a doubled prize pool. From the moment players arrived, the energy was unmistakable. The practice greens and driving range were buzzing with intensity as competitors dialed in their games ahead of the round.

We were proud to welcome players from multiple APT chapters to The Ridge — including New Jersey, Central PA, Metro NY, and Myrtle Beach (SC). Even more exciting, 14 new members joined the Amateur Players Tour family at this event, making it a truly special start to the season.

A total of $1,300 was up for grabs across Division Skins and Super Skins, contributing to an impressive overall prize pool of $5,425 across Divisions 1–5, as well as Mid-Am Net and Senior Net.

By 10:00 AM, 79 players teed off in a shotgun start, setting the stage for an unforgettable day filled with competition, camaraderie, and the beginning of what promises to be an incredible season.

Division 1 was a battle from the very first tee!

Defending 2025 New Jersey Division 1 Player of The Year Adam Fuchs came in ready to defend his title, facing off against a talented field of three other elite player (Andrew Willadsen, Trevor Duboff and newcomer Charles Lee)Fuchs started strong with birdie-par on his opening holes.  Fuchs carded at +1 (37) on the at the turn, while Willadsen wasn’t backing down, answering right back with +2 (38). It would be the back nine that made the difference. Willadsen struggled – whereas Fuchs continued to string a number of fantastic holes, with 1 birdie and 5 pars. Closing out his round with a final score of +4 (75) and taking home the hardware as the Stanton Ridge Golf and Country Club Division 1 Champion.

Division 2 delivered the heat with a stacked field of 17 players — and it absolutely lived up to it. At the turn, Kevin Park set the pace at +2 (38), but the leaderboard was tight with 5 players still within striking distance. The pressure was on— could Park hold the lead, or would someone make a move? Adam Gamble made a serious push, firing a +2 (37) on the back nine to climb into contention. Rocky Dare posted a +14 (85) to secure third place, while Gamble finished just 2 shots shy of forcing a playoff, taking second at +10 (81).

In the end, Park held steady down the stretch, closing it out to claim the Division 2 Championship with a final score of +8 (79).

The story of the day, however, came on Hole #12 — a 154-yard par 3 from the D2 forward tees. Daniel Shelbo from the Myrtle Beach Chapter stepped up and made it count, draining his first-ever Hole-In-One in competition with a single swing. As a member of the Amateur Players Tour Hole-In-One Club (just $30 for the season), Daniel cashed in $500 and earned his choice of a Bushnell Bluetooth speaker or rangefinder — he went with the rangefinder.

    Congratulations, Daniel!

Division 3 turned into a true battle royale, featuring a massive field of 27 players.

With a shotgun start and talent spread across the course, it was nearly impossible to gauge where anyone stood throughout the round — every hole told a different story, and the leaderboard was wide open all day.
