Shadow Valley Country Club Hosts 61 Players in Northwest Arkansas Showdown

Shadow Valley Country Club was host to 61 players on Saturday, June 6, all vying for first-place honors and championship hardware. Players awoke to a threatening weather forecast that appeared poised to put a damper on the day’s events. Fortunately, Mother Nature cooperated, delivering only light rain, and all five divisions were able to complete their rounds under mostly cloudy skies.

    Division 1

Arkansas APT Golf member Tyler Cloutier played steady golf through the first 12 holes before a double bogey on No. 12 opened the door for the competition. However, Cloutier responded by playing his final six holes in even par, effectively putting the tournament away and securing the victory. Collin New of Rogers, Arkansas, finished four shots back in second place.

    Division 2

Paul Stanton of the Kansas City APT Golf Chapter made it two-for-two for out-of-state winners by posting a front-nine score of 1-over-par 37 to create some separation from the field. Stanton followed with a solid back nine to claim the trophy and winner’s share by two shots over Arkansas APT Golf member Riley Saddler. Eric Shelton finished another shot back in third place.

    Division 3

Todd Humble of Fort Smith, Arkansas, representing the Tulsa APT Golf Chapter, posted an early score of 10-over-par 82 and waited to see if anyone could catch him. Many gave chase, but no one could match Humble’s total as he secured his first victory of the season. David Eslinger finished three shots back in second place, while Jay Williams and Norman Springwater were one shot further behind in a tie for third. Humble’s victory came against a strong Division 3 field of 20 players.

    Division 4

Roger Dollins captured his third victory of the season by outlasting Yul Eslinger in a two-hole playoff. Dollins appeared to have the tournament in hand before a double bogey on the final hole of regulation gave Eslinger new life. After both players matched scores on the first playoff hole, Eslinger had another opportunity to steal the win, but Dollins ultimately prevailed. The two remain locked in a heated battle for the coveted Division 4 Player of the Year title.

    Division 5

Dylan Wolf of Centerton, Arkansas, competing as a guest, claimed the Division 5 title after Tyler Roberts of Conway, Arkansas, suffered a triple bogey on the final hole. Despite the disappointing finish, Roberts held on for second place, while Jerry Crabtree rounded out the podium in third.
