The Mile High Denver Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour traveled to the Colorado Rockies for the High Country Heritage Championship at Keystone Ranch Golf Course. Players were greeted with spectacular mountain scenery, brilliant blue skies, and ideal summer temperatures. A few clouds moved into the area around midday, but overall, the weather could not have been better for championship golf.

At nearly 9,500 feet above sea level, Keystone Ranch once again reminded players just how far the golf ball can travel in the thin mountain air. Members enjoyed some incredibly long drives and approach shots throughout the day, creating plenty of memorable moments and a few surprised reactions when familiar yardages suddenly played much shorter.

Following the unusually warm and dry winter experienced throughout Colorado in 2026, Keystone Ranch was still working through the early stages of its seasonal recovery. Recent maintenance efforts included aeration of the greens, resulting in sandy and bumpy putting surfaces that produced some interesting rolls throughout the day. The key factor, however, was that every competitor faced the same conditions and embraced the challenge in true Amateur Players Tour fashion.

The biggest thrill of the day came before many players had even settled into their rounds. Division 5 player Cash Mahoney began his day on Hole #12 and promptly aced his opening shot for a spectacular Hole-in-One. With his father, Joe Mahoney, having traveled from New York to participate in the tournament, the moment became even more special as father and son shared the experience together.

Cash’s incredible shot earned Cash $68 in the Closest-to-the-Pin contest. As a member of the Bushnell-sponsored APT Hole-in-One Club, Cash also collected the $500 Hole-in-One prize and a Bushnell Rangefinder/Speaker.

Closest-to-the-Pin honors officially went to Hunter Case, whose tee shot on Hole #7 finished an incredible 1 foot, 8 inches from the cup. Hunter also won $68 for his accomplishment.

Eagles continued to be plentiful for the Denver Chapter, extending the chapter’s streak of eagles during tournament competition. John Langford III and Austin Lisk both recorded eagles on Hole #18. New Denver Chapter member David Cullen, a 16-year-old from Saratoga, Wyoming, made his first APT event one to remember. Starting nervously on Hole #1 with his father watching, David nearly made history by almost recording an albatross before settling for an eagle. In a fitting finish to his round, he nearly bookended the day with another eagle on Hole #18 when his putt stopped on the left edge of the hole.

    Division Highlights

    Division 1

Division 1 provided the most dramatic finish of the day. Previous Denver Chapter winner Rizzul Karki and first-time Denver competitor Philip Camillo matched each other shot for shot throughout regulation, both posting identical rounds of 74 with matching nines of 37-37. The pair continued their battle through four playoff holes before Karki finally secured the championship with a birdie on Hole #18 to claim the trophy and first-place prize money. Camillo’s outstanding performance in his Denver Chapter debut proved he will be a player to watch throughout the season.

    Division 2

Division 2 Champion Emmett White put together a very solid round of 75 to capture the title, edging multi-time APT winner Hendrik Orlowski by a single stroke. The battle for third place resulted in a three-way tie, with Jorge Villegas, John Langford III, and Zach Rodriguez each posting rounds of 78.

    Division 3

Division 3 saw the top four finishers line up perfectly in order without the need for any playoffs. Mackenzie “Mack” Mitchell captured the championship with an excellent round of 83 to earn the trophy and first-place prize money. Jon Wangard finished just one stroke back with an 84, followed by Matt Gates at 85. Greg DeRoeck rounded out the money positions by claiming fourth place with a score of 86. With only three strokes separating the top four finishers, Division 3 once again demonstrated the depth and competitiveness that has become a hallmark of the Mile High Denver Chapter.

    Division 4

Division 4 Champion Addie Berube continued her outstanding season by posting an impressive score of 84 to capture the championship trophy and first-place prize money. Steady competitor Richard McCoy came up just one stroke short, carding an 85 to earn second-place honors. Travis Glenn, representing the Utah Chapter of the Amateur Players Tour, made the trip to Keystone worthwhile by securing third place and prize money with a score of 88. The division featured strong play throughout the day, with only four strokes separating the top three finishers.

    Division 5

Division 5 once again proved why it is one of the most entertaining divisions on the Denver Chapter schedule. New Mile High Denver Chapter member Joe Welch emerged as the Keystone Ranch Champion, earning the first-place trophy and prize money with a winning score of 92. Visiting Utah Chapter member Mike Eames claimed second-place prize money with a score of 98. Division 5 also provided one of the most memorable moments of the entire tournament when Cash Mahoney opened his round with a spectacular hole-in-one on his very first shot of the day.

    Mid-Am Net Division

Addie Berube completed a remarkable day by also capturing the Mid-Am Net Championship with an outstanding net score of 68, four-under par. Jon Wangard finished second with a 71, while Philip Camillo added another impressive performance to his Denver Chapter debut by claiming third place with a net even-par 72.

    Senior Net Division

Richard McCoy continued his excellent play by winning the Senior Net Championship with a net score of 69, three-under par. Joe Mahoney finished second at even par, while Seth Gurss claimed third place with a net 74. McCoy’s Senior Net victory complemented his runner-up finish in Division 4 and capped off an exceptional day at Keystone Ranch.

Additional noteworthy performances were recorded throughout the field. John Langford III led all players with four birdies on the day. Jorge Villegas and Will Hallmark each carded three birdies, while Addie Berube added two birdies to her impressive day in the mountains. Berube’s performance highlighted a lengthy list of competitors who recorded multiple birdies during the High Country HeritageChampionship, further demonstrating the quality of play displayed throughout the field.

Mike Elder won the Folds of Honor 50/50 drawing. Mike received $152 while another $153 was donated to Folds of Honor through the APT National Charity Program, supporting the families of fallen and disabled military service members.

With breathtaking scenery, memorable accomplishments, and another outstanding display of camaraderie among members, the High Country Heritage Championship once again demonstrated why the Keystone weekend remains one of the most anticipated stops on the Mile High Denver Chapter schedule.
