Tournament Champions
Greeted by a weekend of sunshine and ideal spring temperatures, a sold-out field of 64 players teed it up in pursuit of the largest prize in Tulsa APT Golf history at “The Gathering” at Grand Lake. Both Patricia Island Country Club and Shangri-La Golf Club provided a formidable test for competitors, as nearly $5,000 in prize money was on the line across five APT divisions.
Division 1
Kansas City’s Kory Glasgow surged to the top on Saturday at Patricia Island with an impressive 3-under 69. Close behind were Shangri-La’s Clayton Shumaker and Joplin’s Anthony Schreier at 1-under 71. The trio separated themselves early on Sunday at Shangri-La, with Shumaker playing steady, composed golf to build a three-shot lead heading into the par-5 18th. Opting for a conservative layup, Shumaker secured a routine par and a two-shot victory. Glasgow finished second after a closing 75, while Schreier held on for third.
Division 2
Tom Lorenz edged out Jacob Casey by a single stroke in one of the most dramatic finishes of the weekend. Casey began the day three shots back but fired an even-par 36 on the front to close the gap. After a stretch of three bogeys by Lorenz, Casey grabbed a two-shot lead with four holes remaining. Lorenz responded with a clutch birdie on 16 and a par on 17 to pull even. On the par-5 18th, both players reached near the green in two. Lorenz played a brilliant bunker shot to within a foot, while Casey left himself a short birdie attempt after a long eagle try. Lorenz tapped in for birdie, and when Casey narrowly missed his putt, Lorenz claimed the win. The division was also highlighted by Eric Shelton’s hole-in-one on the 17th.
Division 3
In his first Tulsa APT event of the season, Greg McEntire emerged victorious in a playoff over David Eslinger of Muldrow. The two distanced themselves from the field on the front nine and battled throughout the round. A double bogey by Eslinger on 16 gave McEntire a one-shot edge, but Eslinger answered with a birdie on 18 to force a playoff. On the extra hole, Eslinger’s tee shot found the water, allowing McEntire to secure the win with a steady par. Jay Williams, Rocky Metcalf, and Randy Collier finished tied for third.
Division 4
Another tightly contested battle came down to the final hole. Roger Dollins, winner of the previous two Tulsa APT events in D4, built a four-shot lead after round one. However, Yul Eslinger mounted a comeback to tie Dollins at the turn on Sunday. The two traded blows until the par-5 18th, where Eslinger calmly rolled in a par putt. Dollins was unable to match, carding a bogey to finish one stroke behind. William Spicer made a late push but was undone by a triple bogey on the 12th.
Division 5
Maverick Morsey continued his strong start to the 2026 season with another dominant performance. After a win at Cherokee Hills and a runner-up finish at Cherokee Springs, Morsey entered the final round tied with Tyler Kijac. Morsey pulled away on the front nine and cruised to a four-shot victory. Kijac finished second, while last week’s winner Steve Lumpkin posted the round of the day (88) to claim third.
Net Divisions
Mid-Am Net: William Spicer captured the title with a net 70 (-2), with TJ Eckert and Rocky Metcalf finishing tied for second.
Senior Net: Tom Lorenz added to his impressive weekend by winning Senior Net, finishing six shots ahead of Troy Smith.
