Tournament Champions
If you have golfed in the Midwest, you know you must take advantage of the weather we had for the “Clash at Crazy Horse” in Hutchinson, KS. Low winds about 8-13mph, perfect temps in the high 70’s-low 80’s for the day. Mark, Jason, and the team at Crazy Horse sure had the course set up in great shape overall! The greens rollin’ great with plenty of speed and challenging breaks. There were plenty of blind shots and challenging holes tee to green. If you haven’t played this course, get to Hutchinson and give it a whirl.
I also want to say THANK YOU to the Kansas City Chapter David Szczucinski and his handful of players that come down for the event. It was great having them in the field!
D1 came down to the last hole Garrett Wilson, from the Kansas City Chapter, wanted to make it interesting with a couple of birdies on the day and then going into the clubhouse with a double on 18. KG Glasgow, from the Kansas City Chapter, had a very consistent round, but the double on 17 and bogey on 18 gave Garrett the W in D1.
D2 new member Ryan Walton, from near by Nickerson, KS, used his knowledge and track record of playing Crazy Horse to earn himself the win with a +8. Solid 39/41 – 80 and tied the event low score for the day! Our Mariah Hills winner earlier this season, Josh Dockery played really well on his BIRTHDAY shooting 39/43 – 82 on the day. With that great round he placed 2nd. Ryan was not wanting to give up the Decanter and those elevated points as a birthday gift.
D3 came down to a PLAYOFF! Conner Gillespie and Tracy Hanback were both on fire through the front 9, playing to a +3 each! Tracy had 3 birdies on the day and Conner had more of a steady round. They went out and on the first playoff hole it was decided. Conner solidified his win continuing his steady performance.
D4 wasn’t even in question today. Scott Rausch ran away with a great round shooting 43/40 – finishing with 83 (+11). When asked after the round, Scott mentioned a new found philosophy that if the par 4 is less than 400 yards, keep the driver away! That was definitely the trick at Crazy Horse. TIGHT fairways and a lot of OB, you had to keep it in the fairway to play well. Scott definitely did that.
D5 winner Erik Hopper shot a career best 94. Hit the only birdie on the day for a skin on #8 and that also won him the super skin! Jake Overton, from Kansas City chapter, was giving him a run for his money throughout the day but ended with triple, double, triple to help secure Erik’s second win on tour!
It was another great day on the course in Kansas! We appreciate all the participants and feel everyone enjoyed the tough little track that is Crazy Horse.
