This past week we headed out to McPherson, KS to The Battle at Turkey Creek!

Course was in great shape and weather became a challenge. Little over halfway through the round we were called off the course with some lightning and then the rain followed!  After a 1-hour 20-minute delay, we headed back out to the course!

D1 was a barn burner as it came down to the last hole to determine the winner!  Jacob Bruhn who started with a double bogey on 1, came back to fire 6 birdies on the round and shoot a 70 (E) on the day!! KG Glasgow also had a great round with a couple birdies and a CTP! Shooting 71(+1) on the round. Noah Hughes had a couple birdies as well and finished 3rd with a 72 (+2).

D2 Tristen Dagenais took the W shooting a 79 (+9) on the round.  Very consistent par/bogey round and closed out his round with a birdie!  Paul Stanton finished in 2nd with an 84 (+14) on the day. Paul started off slow but went on a tear shooting par on 8 holes of a 10-hole stretch.

D3 came down to the last hole!  Justin Bennett took the win with a 79 (+9). Justin was (-1) on the front nine and came back out after the delay cooled off. Still shooting consistent par golf, he was able to hold off Connor Gillespie with an 80 (+10). Connor shot consistent 40 front and 40 back and played very well in his first APT event!

D4 Austin Uffendell went 83 (+13) playing consistent with a 42/41, a birdie on 4 and minimal mistakes throughout the round.  Austin edged out Tracy Hanback with an 85 (+15) and Jeff Rader who had 86 (+16). Great competition in the field and look forward to some future great battles in the division soon.

D5 Kelly Mcdowell runs it back and goes back-to-back wins! Kelly shot an 86 (+16). 42 front and 44 back was a solid round of golf that allowed him to beat out newcomer Michael Brooks.  Michael had 87 (+17) had a birdie on #2 and went 43/44 and couldn’t quite catch Kelly to take the win.

Thank you Collin and the Turkey Creek Staff for having us out and really making the best out of a delay as possible. Wichita Amateur Players Tour will be back out to this fun track!

Next on the Tee – The Showcase at Auburn Hills in Wichita, KS!  This fantastic course is a favorite in the city and look forward to a great tournament there!
