One of the premier flighted amateur golf tournaments in the Atlanta area made its debut at Heritage Golf Links, where perfect early conditions gave way to a challenging finish as wind picked up on the back nine. With tricky green complexes demanding precision all day and gusts adding pressure late, this professionally-run golf tournament near you turned into a true test, and in Atlanta, there are no easy rounds.

In Division 1, Drew Griswell broke through for his first APT victory, posting a 3-over 75 and holding off a tight field. James Leggett finished just behind at 5-over 77, while Erik Benson claimed third at 8-over 80. Griswell handled both the greens and the late wind better than the rest, closing the door on a competitive leaderboard.

Division 2 saw tour newcomer Chuck Hobgood make an immediate impact, firing a 4-over 76 to earn his first APT win. Kevin Satterfield followed at 6-over 78, with Dean Crouch finishing third at 9-over 81. Hobgood’s round was steady throughout—even if he nearly forgot about the 18th hole in the excitement—capping off an impressive debut performance.

In Division 3, Sydney Divine continued the theme of first-time winners, capturing his first APT title since joining in 2023 with a 6-over 78. Craig Carroll finished second at 9-over 81, while Steve Sommers took third at 12-over 84. Divine’s consistency across a demanding setup earned him a well-deserved breakthrough.

Division 4 belonged to Alan “Soup” Campbell, who continued one of the hottest streaks in the country with a 7-over 79 victory, his third of the season. Gary Barth (11-over 83) and Jason Hogg (14-over 86) rounded out the top three, but the story of the day was Campbell’s remarkable stretch of four consecutive birdies—something he proudly noted no one in his family had ever accomplished.

In Division 5, Lee Thompson continued his dominant season, securing an unprecedented fifth victory with a 22-over 94. Richard Kemp and William Jones tied for second at 28-over 100. Thompson continues to separate himself in the Player of the Year race with another consistent performance.

Campbell’s hot play extended into the Senior Net division, where he captured his first title of the season to go along with his Division 4 win. In Mid-Am Net, Sydney Divine doubled up on the day as well, adding a second trophy to go with his Division 3 victory and capping off a breakthrough performance.

With a new course, shifting conditions, and deep competition across every division, Atlanta once again delivered a tightly contested event where players had to adapt and execute. And as always, in Atlanta, there are no easy rounds.
