2026 FSW Spring Run Golf Club

Spring Run Golf Club – August 22, 2026 

It was a bright sunny day in Bonita Springs, Florida, where we played our penultimate event at Spring Run Golf Club!  As it always is, the course was in perfect condition!  When you hit it in the fairway, it was like putting the ball on a tee, and the greens were rolling very true as well!  Highlights of the day included: 

• Division 1: This week, we had a small number, with one newcomer and three veterans including out top two points leaders, Gage Basiletti and Daren Green.  On the front nine, Basiletti would jump out to a 2-shot lead over Chase Bertrand.  Bertrand would improve on his front nine by 3 shots to a +1 (37).  Unfortunately, it was not enough to catch Basiletti as he posted an even par 36 to get the win, his seventh of the season, and a big lead heading to the finals next weekend!   

• Division 2: In our closest division in Player of the Year points, the two leaders, Nick Westbrook and Danny Magruder, squared off in the same threesome!  After the front nine, Westbrook and Magruder were tied with Christian Hess at even par 36, and Jeff Rainford was just 3 back.  This one stayed tight the whole way, mostly between Magruder and Hess.  It came down to the last hole and when Magruder bogeyed, Hess just needed to make a six-footer to tie and force a playoff.  Unfortunately, his putt rimmed out giving Magruder the win, his fifth of the season closing the gap on Westbrook.  The finals will be for the D2 Player of the Year!    

• Division 3: This was our largest group of the day with eleven players competing for the trophy, including points leaders Josh Acevedo, and John Moore!    The front nine saw tour rookie, Dylan Rich, fire a +3 (39) to take a 2-shot lead over another rookie, Brian Sumwalt and Acevedo.  Rich would falter on his back nine to a 44, and Sumwalt headed to the last hole tied with Rich at +11.  Sumwalt would hit a sub-par drive leaving himself with a 200-yard shot to the green.  He would execute it to perfection by hitting the green and giving himself a chance for a playoff with a 2-putt.  Sumwalt calmly walked up and holed it out for a birdie and the win, his first of the season!   

• Division 4: Again, our top three points getters, Clay Metzger, Mike Bushee, and Andy Halek, were all in the field this week!  On the front nine, Spring Run member, Rich Camba, came out firing with a +3 (39) and a 1-shot lead over Metzger, and 3 over John Oursler and David Davis!  On the back, Oursler would remain consistent firing an 85, but it was not enough to hold off our points leader, Clay Metzger, who captured his fourth win of the season.  This round will likely earn Metzger a promotion to D3 just ahead of the finals.   

• Division 5: The small field this week included D5 points leaders, Greg Gastfield, and other chasers Jeromy Sigler, Rusty Lingenfelter, and Quinton Allen.  On the front, Sigler would jump out to a 1-shot lead over Lingenfelter, and two over Mike Abbott.  On the back, Sigler’s 45 would tie the best for the group and allowed him to take the win, his fourth of the season, and more importantly, gain ground on Gastfield heading into the Finals!   

• Mid-Am Net: Our top 5 points getters were all in the field this week, competing for an edge heading into the Finals next weekend!  Second place points getter, Sigler took an easy victory this week with a -7 (65), and that should allow him to overtake Basiletti heading into Finals next weekend!  It will come down to the last week of the season to determine our winner here!   

• Senior Net: 14 of 25 eligible players participated in the Senior Net game, including points leader, Greg Gastfield, and many others.  This one wasn’t close either!  Rusty Lingenfelter fired an impressive -6 (66) for the win, with Danny Magruder taking second at -2, and John Oursler came in third!  With the win, Lingenfelter closed the gap on Gastfield heading into the Finals!  Another winner will be determined at the Finals!
