Bear Down at Bear Creek required 3 playoffs to determine champions!

MURRIETA, CA — The Amateur Players Tour descended upon the prestigious Bear Creek Golf Club on Thursday, June 18, 2026, for a thrilling day of competitive tournament golf. Players were greeted by beautiful, pristine weather conditions on the challenging Jack Nicklaus-designed private course, setting the stage for high drama across multiple divisions.

    Division 1: The Marathon Playoff

Caldwell, Wall, and Mabashov Battle in Epic 5-Hole Playoff at Bear Creek.  The headline of the day belonged to Division 1, which required a grueling five-hole playoff to determine a champion. Josh Caldwell (Temecula, CA), John Wall (Murrieta, CA), and Michael Mabashov (Riverside, CA)  all finished 18 holes tied for the lead with 76. The trio traded shots under immense pressure for four straight extra holes. On the fifth playoff hole, Mabashov finally broke the deadlock. By carding a steady par while both Caldwell and Wall stumbled with bogeys, Michael Mabashov secured a hard-earned victory winning first place money and the large Decanter Trophy!

Division 2: Iriarte Coasting to Victory

In Division 2, Mark Iriarte of Costa Mesa, CA, put together a stellar performance. Navigating the sophisticated Nicklaus design with precision, Iriarte shot an impressive 77 to clear the field and claim first place.  New Member to the tour Chrisian Taffola (Upland, CA) came in second in his first event with an 80.

Division 3: Tiebreaker rule in effect for second event in a row.

Division 3 saw Joey Camarata and Keith Manchester match each other stroke-for-stroke, both finishing their rounds with identical scores of 82. Keith Manchester (Garden Grove, CA) made par on 18 after going into the fairway bunker.  He hit his approach over the water and proceeded to card a par to get into a playoff.  A playoff was called, but Camarata had already left the property by finishing earlier in the day and by tournament rules, Keith Manchester was awarded the first-place finish and the hardware.

    Division 4: Odegard’s Clutch Putt & Viega’s Senior Surge

Drama returned in Division 4 as Kurt Odegard and Manny Viega finished tied after matching rounds of 84. With both players on property and present the players headed out for a sudden-death playoff. On the second extra hole, Odegard sealed the title in dramatic fashion by draining a clutch 15-foot par putt. Despite the playoff heartbreak, Viega did not go home empty-handed; his stellar net score of 68 secured him the Senior Net title and Kurt took second in the senior net.

Division 5: Moore Outpaces the Field

Eddy Moore (Menifee, CA)  put together a highly efficient round in Division 5, carding a 93 to secure a comfortable victory. Clark Decker (Seal Beach, CA) put up a strong fight but ultimately finished in solo second place with a 95.

Mid-Am Net: Michael Finishes Under Par

The Mid-Am Net division saw some of the best scoring of the day. Sean Michael tore up the course to finish with a 1-under-par 71, taking home the trophy and $215. Chase Hatcher finished just behind him along with Keith Manchester both at even par.
