Chambers Bay Championship Recap: Seattle Amateur Golfers Take on a U.S. Open Venue
Under sunny skies and near-perfect conditions, the Amateur Players Tour Seattle chapter made its highly anticipated stop at Chambers Bay on Saturday. Widely regarded as one of the premier championship venues in the Pacific Northwest, Chambers Bay has hosted the 2010 U.S. Amateur and the 2015 U.S. Open and continues to stand as one of the most recognizable public golf courses in America. Players from Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue, Olympia, and across western Washington tested their games on the links-style layout overlooking Puget Sound as Player of the Year races continued to tighten heading into the heart of the season.
With the Seattle Player of the Year race carrying added significance in 2026, competitors are battling not only for season-long honors but also for their 2027 Amateur Players Tour membership and custom SWAG gear, including a premium golf bag. As the summer swing begins, every finish is becoming increasingly important.
In Division 1, Jeremy Kim continued his impressive season by capturing another victory with a 9-over 81. The win extends Kim’s lead in the Seattle Player of the Year race and further establishes him as the player to catch heading into the summer months. John Thayer finished second with an 83 in a strong showing at one of the region’s most demanding championship venues.
Division 2 featured one of the standout performances of the day as Kevin Murray fired a career-best Amateur Players Tour round, a 2-under 70, to dominate a highly competitive field.
